So they knew after that game and some others that McVay was not happy. I mean we knew it just watching his pressers. Those guys are aware who is doing their job and who isn't and they keep that in-house (or should) as good teammates. But it is a valid point by the OP and it's gonna be interesting as this goes down to see if that changes. My expectation is everyone knows he's been strugglingby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Kupp is the higher ceiling but is riskier with injury. If the Rams decide to move either him or Woody to gain some cap both are solid contracts so it may be a business choice between the two re: on-field availability.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
That I have to try not to think about it. I don't want to get my hopes up. Reading your post though fired me up. :thumbsupby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
So I'm not gonna count him out. Goff's market is small but there is definitely a market. The cap guy may have a good handle on the numbers but I don't think his grasp of the situation on the football side is there. Look how many chances Bradford got. Goff's a QB and he's done some good stuff. They'll be able to move him I think. If not I'm fine with that too. I think in fact Jared comingby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
I think that's how it will go. This is where Kromer's drafting of OTs to move them inside pays off. Edwards is probably fine at RT. They have Evans too. So it's a drop but not a huge drop to trade Hav. And Hav is a guy teams will want as well as good bang for the buck. Also one of those two possession studs getting dealt makes sense. Rams need a third threat in the passing game and bothby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
They're going to need to move someone making real money and restructure some deals but he's definitely a guy who should be on early cuts. He had some good moments but we need improvement there as well as the cap space.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
I don't think the end result was going to change either way (i.e. McVay was probably done with him at that point regardless) but I do not doubt that they were upset. They run one of the tightest ships around. That had to get under their skin big time. And now they can't really talk about how bad he played which is the reason behind all this because they don't want to hurt his trade value. Tby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
In fact it's a thousand times better than Watson in SF. Or some other options. I think Stafford is serviceable and would look good in SF but at some point they're gonna get a QB might as well be him.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRams43 I’m gonna go with Minshew. Maybe Darnold. But not Goff. Yeah I'm of the same mind. Neither are ideal but QB has been 20th and 22nd for us anyway the past two seasons. Minshew I think is a guy McVay would work well with. If it's him he'll have a strong run game and hopefully a great defense. Darnold is riskier in terms of chance to bust, but he also has upside that is harby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Rams have proven to be very shrewd drafters as they've maximized their hauls during this extended period of no first round picks. So I'd rather stay with affordable options and be a ground control offense for now and take a shot in the draft on a QB who could be special in this offense. That's easier said than done I realize. But let's use that edge we think we have in drafting to solve QB.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRampage2K- Quotemerlin They can't come out and say what they think of him. Just like them talking up Tavon Austin after moving him for a ham sandwich. Snead let it out there (as the Rams probably planned) just enough for teams to know it's real. Now it's about not shooting that horse before you trade it for the best deal you can get. Well that sure is an ass backwards way of doing biz wby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
I think this staff is very good. And the Rams don't run an environment where guys aren't given what they need to succeed. The line had some issues (Blythe all season and Boom when Whit went down) but overall it's a good unit. They need a third receiving weapon however we do have a top young RB who should give us a boost in the pattern too. So IMO we have enough pieces, or will, to where whoevby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
This season seems to have a lot more options than normal. But I don't think WFT will be aggressive and hope that Goff looks like a safe and smart upgrade to them.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Rams are forced to look at their ways of saving cap. They have a QB who isn't moving the needle and hasn't for 2 years. So the business side absolutely factors in. But this does go a little deeper than just a cap decision. This one there is a lack of belief in the Rams' organization wrt Goff. It is what it is and it's gonna run its course in the form of change at the position.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
I disagree with that sentiment. He's not the same QB who I would have agreed that was true about. That QB is gone. I think we'll see that in the trade that is coming. We're not gonna get a ton of value for this guy but we will be able to move him.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com

QuoteRamgator He's not a problem child on the team. He can win some games. He simply just is not worth his contract anymore. 2017 and 18? Sure! But right now he is waste of a ton of cap space. I was REALLY hoping he could turn it around this year. The O line was a decent argument in 2019 but even then and 2020, he simply was not making plays even when he did have time. QuoteRam_Ruler I wonder what it would take That's a good question no idea. When you trade a player for salary dump that can cut into your value and I think it will. Also there are a ton of QB options on the market this year and Goff is coming off two down years so he doesn't really stand out in this market. At all. So my guess is a 2nd round pick from Washington or Denver. Maybe plus someby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
But he pretty much nails it. Great listen I don't normally tune in to those clowns.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Which is why you can buy low on him. And that's why I think he'll be a target. If the Jets play hardball go to the next option, since getting him at an affordable rate is key. We're not gonna get Watson on the cheap. Or anyone else coming off a strong season. Even the Lions think they're gonna get two 1s for their statue of a QB who's been overrated since day one. I'm just trying to detby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
I'm not a cap guy so I don't have a strong handle on all the if's on that. But I think moving him will bring some draft value back. Only way I could see them cutting him is if teams around the league think he's a bust. But that is unlikely. Just look at Bradford and how many shots he got. Goff has done some really good things to include the most important metric which is wins. So they'llby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Both have defensive head coaches who are tired of messing with QBs. Goff has gone through intensive development with McVay and there's room to tell yourself that he could rebound. Which is important for the team trading for him. Saleh won't make that mistake. He gameplanned Goff for years and will have a different perspective. Nagy will see a lot of things he's already gotten from his QBsby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Good post and I agree. But this particular hire strikes me as McVay's first "friend" hire. This is a nod to background and history and past association moreso than Morris' performance in Atlanta. And yes I know the defense stepped up after he got the job. But the disturbing possibility there is that the team hated Quinn and firing him was a lift. I'm fully behind McVay. He's myby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Problem with drafting a QB is we're a contender. We have guys like Ramsey and Donald. The team cannot afford to put all its hope in a draftee when they want to win in 2021. So... I think they will 100% go get a vet. That doesn't mean we won't draft the position though. They may hedge their bet both ways but going into the draft you want the position filled with someone you can get behind.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
I'm thinking defensive leadership is more prone to see Goff's value. And they're gonna need big cap space. So Washington comes to mind. Denver. I think those are the types of locations in the mix for Jared's next stop. Teams that have been down at the position but aren't positioned to solve it in this draft and will see him as a stabilizing force for them behind center.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
I think he's average in his processing speed. And I think his vision is iffy. The guy just misses too much when he scans the field. And both those problems worsen sharply when he's pressured which leads to turnovers. This is why I think McVay is moving on. I believe he's tired of dealing with it and wants a guy who can produce even when things aren't going optimally.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Going to 12 from our 11 heavy sets of yesteryear is a trade of a wideout for Everett. Which hurts us in the passing game. But when we went with 11 it's not like Reynolds was all that great either. This boils down to one truth: we need a 3rd receiving weapon. Given that Hopkins was supposedly advanced in the passing game why didn't they just line him up as a slot on occasion when they wantby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com

That stuff is meaningless zn. You can align those examples any way you wish but the fact remains: McVay doesn't think Goff is good enough. Goff had a nice run. I feel bad for him. I even think the wise choice is to keep him one more year and make him win the job or keep him as a backup. But I get that McVay is done with him if that's how it goes.
