I look at him as a potential guy to help us where we need it next year too. But man. How could he not push for looks on the field when it's Everett and Mundt ahead of him on the depth chart and neither of those guys moved the needle.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
You throw a John Shaw comp out there holding them to some high standard in being wrong on 16. But hey that never happens to the geniuses like Shanny does it. This is football man. Sometimes you pay dudes and they regress. Then you have to make the decision whether he's the guy and that's not an easy thing. But what is a good thing is we don't have John Shaw in our front office.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
I'm getting a really weird vibe this offseason re: the Rams at QB and it's not because of just the whole Goff thing. This goes deeper I think and maybe into McVay's whole direction with his offense. I know this is a crazy thought but humor me and let's say that he has decided to do like Greg Roman and alter his scheme to simplify things for the QB position (many things of which he was doing fby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
This guy is a lot like Wolford. Not a lot of arm. Scrappy with good mobility. It is an interesting signing that's for sure. And if you took that trend into the draft who stands out. Guy like Ehlinger perhaps?by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Darnold comes with risk but he makes a ton of sense. First off he has good talent which means you get that important upside. Secondly he played in the Coliseum in LA. He has excellent mobility, not an aggressive runner but a very good athlete who can take what is there. I think a switch has flipped with McVay and I think mobility is important. Where Minshew has value is as a cheap fallbackby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
It's about getting one of those guys who can be elite. There's a ton of bigs running around in the passing game nowadays that don't really accomplish much outside of a few plays a game when coverage misses them. Higs is a nice TE but he's a blocking TE who happens to have some straight line speed for wheel and go routes. What we need is an upgrade in the passing game. In 2020 two TE sets heby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
So I would think they do something at the position in FA. Then they're not desperate and can BPA with that second round pick. Which is going to be important in a draft where teams have more deviation in their boards than normal. Only goal in round 2 for this draft should be getting a legit round 1 talent which means whichever guy is that one who falls further than he should.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteDeadpool calling Silver from the airport to complain about not starting. Maybe McVay has had enough of his QB not running his offense the way he wants it done, and then complaining to a reporter when he doesn't get to start. Like I said, respect is a 2 way street where I am from. It is also earned. Maybe Goff needs to keep his mediocre mouth shut, support Wolford and his HC (who is hisby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
If you have a powerful DL you can dominate him. He was an enormous problem down the stretch and by far the Rams biggest problem because he magnified what was already a weakness in a QB who can't handle pressure. He's gone.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
I don't think they'll beat whichever AFC team they get.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
It's players. He's got a QB who can't get through reads when he's pressured and who misses a lot of opportunity. He's got a deficiency at Center that blew up a ton of our plays down the stretch and magnified the first problem. And he lacks playmakers. He is going to attack those problems this offseason IMO.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Been waiting for that to happen. Would love to see him go run the offense for Sneaky Pete though. That'll be good for us. :thumbsupby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
They're sitting on a sure pick. The guy is going to be a heck of a QB and he comes with club control with that first contract. No way I'd give up a ton of picks for Watson and then let them snap up an ideal replacement just take Wilson and build the rest of that roster.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
I think Darnold is a far better fit with his mobility than a lot of the other options. Him or Minshew are who I'd prefer to be brought in if things go that route.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
One of Kupp or Woody looks like an obvious solution, what with Jefferson as a new possession piece. I could see either of them being moved. Goff too. I do believe a post-June 1st trade would give us cap relief.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Stafford is very mediocre and will fit well there. :thumbsupby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
For a couple reasons. First Goff's standing around the league has been shaky for some time, there's a lot of folks thinking McVay was behind his success helping him with reads up until the 15 sec mark, that he's a system QB, that he's too timid, etc. He's got a bad rap. And then McVay's standing matters too. He's a cutting edge coach in every respect and if he's cutting bait on Goff... Yeaby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
I know it won't happen. Washington will tag him or pay him. Or he'll go to another team who isn't hyper-focused on compensation pick formula. But I've always wanted him in horns so here's another offseason of hoping we find a way to do it. Center is more likely I think (both positions may have some really nice options in FA) so that is my expectation. And I think they may move Havenstein tby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Absolutely not. Blythe is not going to get better. What he'll do is move on to another team, surprise them and win a role, then get exposed again. He is who he is at this point.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Agreed. And it's kind of funny how ILB seems like you have to be positioned well in the draft. Seems like usually you have a small number of guys who project to play both pass and run at a high level then there's a huge cliff and a ton of two down types or oversized safeties who won't fill the run downhill. By the time you hit our neighborhood of our annual first pick in late round 2 the goodby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
And yeah I like Darnold as well. I think he can play at this level no doubt in my mind. As a trade option he comes with a ton of risk. But the Rams also have a shot at hitting with a pretty high talent QB. So the problem as I see it is teams like the Saints providing us with trade competition for his services and it ends up he's somewhat pricey.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteDeadpool when he took over the ATL defense it went immediately to a Tampa 2 Yeah I don't think there would be too much change. We'll still run a ton of quarters and mix in some exotic stuff because these guys do it so well. Morris' knowledge of the secondary is important here IMO, because that was one of Staley's talents so I hope he's good at disguising looks and all that. But honestby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRamgator He is not scared of the Red Zone. The guy is a real gamer. Is very popular with Jag fans. If nothing else, he'd be an awesome back up....if not starter. That his mentality is a really nice fit with McVay.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRampage2K- Quotemerlin It would be nice. No doubt. But I think McVay can win with a lesser QB if the compete level is ultra high and he at least moves well. This is what I think he liked about Wolford in fact. Minshew is kind of in that mold where I think he gets thrown into a competition and maybe he can improve that top two. Maybe not. But he's affordable too which helps. It is aby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Montana wasn't a super elite QB. He wasn't particularly fast though he moved well. He couldn't throw a deep out a split second late without it getting picked, the guy's arm was not special at all. He was intelligent though. Super fast processor. High compete level. IMO that is McVay's model. Just my feel on it.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Owners want not only a young energetic coach like him, but they want the way he does things. They want the system. They want the approach to details in everything from trainers to practice schedule to travel schedule. And like always they want the success. What hurt us in that way was Lafleur lucking into the Green Bay job. I mean he was a perfect non-threatening but knowledgeable coach thby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Yeah Donald is amazing and all that but even if he had been full go I think we lose up front enough to that line. They are playing as well as any unit in the league right now those boys really did a number on us.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteBearlyThere I want to know who the heck identified Staley.... No track record and yet #1 D in the league in year one? He inherited a lot but I feel like the pieces just fit so well together. Fuller a 6th rounder does a pretty decent job all year. Supposedly Holmes found him. Does Snead have a draft board of position coaches ranked so he knows who to call first when someone getsby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com

First off Bienemy is a well-rounded type of dude he's not a McDaniels. For most coaches having one of 31 jobs and the pay and power that comes with it is going to outweigh the problems the org might have. And the Texans made changes to the clown show front office they had going on before. Only way I'd consider Caserio as a negative is if I knew him or something and didn't like him.
