QuoteBumRap what QB competition? If there is no OL improvent a veteran QB that is availabe won't improve play unless they have great mobillity and arm talent. The mobility is critical to beating Goff all things being equal and Goffs arm talent is substantially better than a lot of available QBs and so a young talentt is more likely I would think. OL improvement is not mutually exclusive with QBby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotemax He needs a new DC and ST coach. He just alienated his QB, so hes probably in the market for a new QB as well. Then add in the CAP issues and he's likely gonna lose some good players, especially on defense. And they lost their best personnel guy. No wonder hes been looking all stressed out. He's back to square one. Well, at least he found a Kicker courtesy of Hekker and McQuaby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Fully agree. McVay is his own worst enemy. He squeezes the most from his roster but the playoffs will peel away excuses until your faults are staring you in the face. The OL was not good enough so pretty sure that this year the Rams will address at least Center. And we had bottom third QB production this season so of course it's gonna get looked at just not sure if it's going to be a prby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
They're going to look at his overall body of work from this season. Still think he's gone but hope you're right.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
I think Akers just wasn't feeling it. He's wired himself to read inside out for the run plays and he wasn't really seeing anything. I think after the first one where he didn't look right I would have shelved that play unless I lose 2x QBs. But again not gonna get all on McVay here other than to say I bet he wishes he had drawn up more plays to try to get him the ball in space. Akers is anby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Quoteferragamo79 a lot of losses Floyd, JJ, Troy Hill , Blythe, Williams role players like Ebukam, Fox, Mundt, Howard, Brown then address Oline, pass rush , QB, linebackers The losses that hurt are Floyd and JJ. If we do lose Williams it sucks but we get a high pick. But the rest of these guys are JAGs. I appreciate them and all but you can replace them without too much effortby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Agreed. Edwards was a big loss. And I like Evans btw I think he belongs he just needs reps.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Seemed like McVay is still in that mindset where he sees Akers as the rookie with the RB room lead. Instead of seeing him as a dangerous threat to Green Bay that we have to make it a point to get the ball to. His presence really helped the passing game. Just his threat you could see the way they were keying on him and tbh if the Rams had simply kept handing him the ball he might have over 20by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Rams' OL looked pretty good in the run game today. But otherwise I agree. The biggest story IMO was the play of the Packers' OL. It neutralized our strength up front and gave a HoF QB time he needed against our excellent secondary.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
In discussions re: our run game and how Mike Pettine is going to sell out to stop it. They were embarrassed by the 9ers last year and booted from the playoffs by that 285 yards on the ground. Which means it is a guarantee that they will do everything in their power to stop Akers. I'll bet their practices have been hyper focused on run fits and specifically designed around trying to stop 23.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
In the respect that he'd be like Wolford and give us a solid chance to extend a drive here and there mixed in among the punts we're probably going to endure. The key to this game is Akers and him maximizing what is there in the run game. But if Goff is out of sorts early going with someone who can hand off or scramble around a bit might give us a slight boost. If McVay gets this win this wilby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Tampa was one of the best games he's played right up there with his late NFC Championship game performance in Nawlins. So if we get that Goff in this game we will absolutely beat Green Bay and maybe comfortably.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
No doubt. Basically I think our chance is Akers. If he can do what he did in Seattle, which is directly enable moving of the chains for scoring drives, we can win this game. Best case scenario that is how things go down, we win, and Goff builds some more confidence. IMO his issues are 100% mental. And that's acknowledging that I would not be throwing a football with that thumb, I mean I giby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotemax Couple of things here. 1. I like Jake, he’s a great kid. And that’s the point, he’s a 22 year old kid. I give him a ton of credit for all the effort he puts in, but he’s far from a competent analyst. He’s memorized a ton of names and numbers but he’s not Matt Waldman. On top of that, Jake has a soft spot for talent limited players. He’s still beating the drum for Austin Davis, who heby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
They do it like the Rams do, with a lot of delayed releases out of the backfield. Where Green Bay really uses it well, though, is on stretch type route combos where they run some verticals then hit the RB underneath. It's very effective vs quarters looks because the remaining defenders will be guys like Reeder on said RB. And Rodgers will hit that throw every time.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
I have no reason to expect Goff to be his 2018 self in this game and that's the bottom line for my expectations. His play all season was erratic. He finished as the 22nd ranked QB in the league. And his most recent outing was not good. It was gritty, it was tough, but in that game he displayed the same erratic reads and questionable decision making we have witnessed so much this season.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
He seems like he's usually in the right spot and he breaks on the ball so instinctively that I don't think he needs elite speed. It would be nice but that's also why this scheme runs two safeties so often. Teams tend to complete a ton of passes underneath across the middle too so that might be part of those stats idk. I just don't see anything that concerns me with him I think he's fine. Ifby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
He's always been slow on his reads and that's not going to change. He's always been inaccurate which also doesn't fit this offense as you need to put the ball in the right spot for RAC. Only thing the guy adds is he's a heck of an athlete when he tucks it and runs but that's not going to be enough. What Wolford added was quick reads and the ball out fast on top of his mobility. Which compleby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
You refuse to entertain the possibility that Goff might not be seeing things well. When that is exactly what is there on the tape. Once again queue up the all 22 in Seattle last weekend and it's there. As to this back and forth I try not to do that and am disappointed in myself for doing this. So I'll end it there my man and cheers. Enjoy the game this weekend.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
I don't think he's ever going to have an opportunity like this again. Where he could start in a huge playoff game with a great team around him. If he does get a shot next year he'd better have sliding in his mind on his QB runs.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
This is different my man. It's not about the thumb. It's about what he is seeing and his decision making. Watch the Seattle win again on the 22 and take a look at what he is seeing and his decisions. He's not the same guy right now.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotezn Quotemerlin Seattle Seahawks did not play good defense in that game. They had guys open deep. They had guys blown underneath. They got mashed in the run game. The previous game where Seattle crushed us it was the same thing in the pass game: guys were open deep and in scoring postions and spots where they could have made big plays but we're not seeing them and converting them. What is on film is not the other team winning. That does happen. But what is going on right now with Jared Goff is opportunities right there in front of him and he doesn't see them. In some cases he sees it and decides not to risk it. But these are throws you have to make as a top QB even a good QB. There are too many examples in just that past game vs Seattle. So many. He's lost a ton of confidence and all but I'd try to get him back on track behind a better line. I'd just add another vet to compete with him (my preference is Minshew but there are other options this offseason) and I'd also draft a developmental type. Our QB position is a mess. They're not playing well. Neither of them. Opinion doesn't really matter here. I'm fine with everyone being on cloud nine from beating Seattle. But let's keep it realistic. Goff didn't ball for us. He did just enough to get us the win which I certainly appreciate and respect but I'm not gonna heap accolades on the guy for doing just enough. I can see why the OL picks up when he goes into the game. :thumbsup This rookie is our title hopes dudes. Hope he can stay healthy.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
And I do find myself thinking we might lose that 2022 first rounder if they make a move for a QB but it would be nice to be back in that late round 1 range again. It's been a long time since I looked forward to the early part of a draft and I miss that.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
I think most of these guys make things up. Stephen A doesn't have good NFL contacts. Good chance it's him putting two and two together. He's right I am sure but I do think he's lying about the source.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
1. Stuff Green Bay's run game. If Rodgers has a run game it's over because they will move the ball, control the clock, and wear our defense out then put up points we can't match. 2. Disciplined back end. Rodgers sees almost everything so if you have a miscue there's a good chance you're gonna get burned. This is a huge matchup for our secondary in fact more demanding than Buffalo was in terby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
