Not cheap, but maybe not as much as you'd think. Let's just say... I've always wanted a Paul Reed Smith guitar. I don't have one, because the one I would want (not the imports, or the model they kind of cut corners on) would cost more than this one will. Of course I DID supply the Koa wood, so I'm not sure how much more that would have cost. I've been told Koa is expensive.
I would think the most tedious work would be the inlays. There are several fretboard markers and an inlay on the front of the headstock. There is an inlay at the 12th fret that is a reproduction of a photo of my sister when she was about a year old that he did in scrimshaw. He had several practice attempts in pencil before the final version, which I'm sure took quite a bit of time if you consider all the attempts. But it's really good, if you ever saw the original photo, there's no question where the inlay came from.
