Our Rhythm guitar player is mostly a singer... he is no where near an accomplished guitarist and the truth be known... keep this hush hush, we turn him down on the songs we know he won't quite be able to handle. Great guy, however, decent singer, fun to play music with, a cousin, and love the guy.... it's not always about talent.
But the reason I bring him up is that while I can't give you a number I know for sure he would blow your total away.... 17 you say? If I had to guess I'd start my friend at 50... and honestly, 100 would not surprise me. Just a side note... I know of 2 Martin's he ran over with his horse trailer.
Now, of course, he's the all time winner... the other guitar players I know aren't anywhere near that... but I would guess they're near your total... 15, maybe 20. This, of course, would include the beginner guitars they learned with. All of them, to my knowledge, have at least one electric and one acoustic... most of them more.
Back to drums... because I have no business talking about guitars.
Most drummers I know began with Ludwigs, back in the day. But Rogers were big as well. Pearls used to be known as the 'cheapos'... so after Ludwig and Rogers most drummers I know played those cheap Pearl kits but don't get me wrong... Pearl made a very good 'cheap' kit. Of course today they are top quality... as nearly all drum manufacturers are. I wanted a set of DW's the last time I bought a kit... but settled on the Pearl Masters because frankly even though DW's had the more prestigious 'name' I couldn't hear any difference than with my Pearl's... and they were quite a bit cheaper. My closest drummer friend bought a Gretsch kit about the same time I bought my Pearls. When he set them up he called me over to listen/play them and frankly I was a little jealous.. they sounded fantastic. Not really 'better' than my Pearls, or the DW's... but different and different is a very good way.
Ok.. equipment... I can't even begin... that would be an impossibility for me to include amps, mics, sound effect modules, monitors, gear like drumming gloves and shoes, and on and on and on and on and Drumsticks? Good Lord.... 7 thousand billion of them?
