Not trying to redirect the point of this thread.... it's a good one, very good.

Re-watched the old classic Mr. Roberts last night. Incredible movie, IMHO. And 'brave'... in that it took on a topic seldom seen in the genre of 'war movies'. I think Mr. Roberts is too often viewed as merely 'comedic'.... and you bet - it IS funny. But I think the main point of the movie is quite serious, and overlooked in the war movie genre. I don't think there is a thing wrong with the way the bulk of war movies are portrayed but there are many aspects to 'war' and some of those aspects I think have been neglected.

"Saving Private Ryan" took on an aspect of war seldom portrayed. There are others. - JamesJM
