Want to say first... I like it so far.... If it does nothing other than depict the mission's I'm ok.... like you said, it's the main reason I'm watching. Not necessarily the 'action' for me... all of it from meeting to get their mission details to landing.
So... my critique.... wanted to say the above first because this series is a thumbs up from me.... even with the following criticism.....
I would agree with you... if I had to name a favorite character it would be Biddick. But I think the writing, (dialog), is lacking.... although they're doing very well in getting the terminology for that era right. I think the actor playing Maj. Bucky Egan is good... but his character is so Hollywood cliche. And sorry if this offends anyone but I don't care for the acting of Austin Butler (Buck Clevin), at all. Maybe that's my fault... one of those guys whose face just pi$$es me off,
, but he actually ruins scenes for me... scenes that should be great... and are (action-wise), except for him. He reminds me of a young Val Kilmer but with none of Val's acting skills. I know, that was harsh.
I believe they are sticking to true tales from the air war on Germany - I say that because I'm almost sure a couple of the 'stories' in this series I have read before in some of the historical books I've read over the years. The crash landing in Scotland, for example, and there are others. IOW.. to my knowledge they are getting it right.
