On my trips to England....

My son lives there so I have visited a few times.... it is incredible how many actual airfields there were in England. Many, if not most, now abandoned although you can still see the remnants if you know where to look.

There is a Pub in the town where my son used to live in England, (he moved, not far away, a couple of years ago), that has an RAF motif... lot of memorabilia, photos, etc. But even better is that the local citizens are VERY knowledgeable about their history. I spent many an hour at the Pub talking to them about the war. They are very proud of what they accomplished, as they should be. And having Guiness on tap made my visits even better. laughing smiley

I can only imagine what it must have been like to live in England, near these airfields, during the war. The skies were filled with planes at all times! Wreckage is strewn in nearly every field in England. - JamesJM
