I've read some about ACL's and generally speaking that a player can play doesn't mean his knee is working at it's optimum only several months after surgery. Rather, according to most of what I've read, it takes around 18 months or so.
Of course, there's no absolute formula. Some players are bound to respond better than others. But how does a team known until after the fact?
Here's my take: Kupp, Woods, and Jefferson are all pretty much the same guy. Kupp, of course, has separated himself in terms of performance, but the types of routes, size, speed, etc. are all similar.
Robinson is a whole other animal. Not necessarily better, but a different kind of matchup. A kind of mini-TE.
Between the uncertainty of Wood's recovery (there's uncertainty in every recovery), and that Robinson represents a healthy larger but super good WR, for about the same money, this has to be what went into the decision.
Otherwise, it makes no sense to me.
