Let me start my reply by saying that I'm not proposing that the Rams keep both Whit and Boom next year - only exploring the question: could the Rams keep both if they wanted to?
And I also want to point out that while it doesn't make sense for 2022 it might make sense for 2023 thru at least 2028. (Boom will be 27 when the 2022 season starts ...)
I am also not proposing the Rams do all of the following ... but what if they did? Restructure Donald to gain $10M in cap space. Restructure Ramsey for $11.2M and Whitworth for $8.8M. Extend Stafford and clear $11M in cap space in 2022. Cut ARob and call it a post June 1 cut to get another $7M in cap space.
Now, the Rams probably won't do all of that, but their cap space in 2022 would be around $52.4M if they did. (Edit: they will do at least a few of these. Everyone knows they can't go into the 2022 season with $4.4M in cap space ...)
If the Rams think that Noteboom could be their LT in 2023 and beyond the questions are: where does he rank in the Rams' list of pending FAs and who would they miss out on if they used $3M of their 2022 cap space to sign him?
