You argue that we disagree about the severity of the issue vs the need to surrender freedom and liberty. You correct-we disagree. Here are some numbers:
In WW 2 over 400,000 Americans(including my dad) were killed during a war that lasted roughly 4 years. (i.e. American involvement). During that period of time Americans were asked to give up much freedom and many liberties due to the severity of what was happening, including but not limited to, food, transportation, medical treatment, employment, recreation, etc. . The Center for Disease Control reports that in a little over one year over 600,000 Americans have died from COVID. In that same period of time over 4 Million deaths, world wide, are attributed to COVID.
So yes we disagree as to -as you say-"the severity of the issue". So, given the above, is it really too much to take the recommended precautions? mask, vaccination,) Clearly, we are not talking about what we all-those who were alive-had to give up during WW 2.
As a side note: I recall, as a small kid, growing up during the war all that we had to give up (i.e. eating horsemeat, lights out after dark, curtains closed, little milk, sharing vegetables with neighbors, unable to drive hardly anywhere-no gas, on and on. ) Of course, we had a pretty damn strong society of people then). Today the debate centers around "I want MY freedom"."My,MY,MY".
