Ummm. That needs a little more definition.

July 30, 2021 05:55AM
It is for immunity. But it must be understood that generally speaking no virus inoculation provides 100% immunity, and it varies person to person. Even the immunity percentages announced were VAST over-simplifications and best case scenarios. Sometimes we look at 90% effectiveness and forget that for the 10% it isn't effective represents an awful lot of people in a large population. Our government's over-promise of full immunity or eliminating Covid has never been scientific... its only political and bureaucratic jargon meant to kick the ball down the road and to get people to do what they want so they look like they have a plan (why anyone would seriously trust what politicians and government bureaucrats claim, is beyond me). And the promise is that everything will go back to normal and some of the draconian measures taken will be lifted. Well.... so much for that.

The thing is, these vaccinations will help those who didn't receive total immunity from 1) being sick even if the virus does "infect" them, 2) greatly diminish the effects should the immune response not be enough to totally shield some people from full immunity. But some unknown number of others will get the vaccinations and still get very sick and even die (for any number of reasons).

This is nothing new. People who get their annual Flu shots are not necessarily 100% immune and suffer the same things. Rather those vaccinations work the same way it does for Covid. It's just that Covid is virus that has the ability to effect us some of us in more serious ways.

In the end, no amount of mask wearing or social distancing has proved to be highly effective. And now the goal posts are once again being moved by new statements that simply further muddy the waters. People are going to have to understand that Covid is here forever. Vaccinations will help. But they aren't a panacea. So.... does that mean the government is going to mandate that for the remainder of our lives we are to socially distance? Wear masks? Shut down schools? Put plexiglass barriers between customers and sales agents? Destroy businesses at government edict? Arrest people as criminals if we don't comply?

The issue is RISK. And the new age goal is to eliminate risk in nearly everything, and to give people little choice in how much risk each of us is willing to take.

But as for the promise of full immunity... that was only heavily implied to help achieve an agenda.
