So, he's been in the top 4 on various occasions in various categories.
you read it wrong
Okay, but you say that he isn't elite because his team didn't win more. You say that an elite year doesn't count as elite. I think it's pretty clear that you're doing everything you can to downplay what he's done.
The reasons you give for thinking he's overrated seem misplaced. The team's record isn't a QB stat. "Never been elite" is ambiguous at best considering how much you've tried to massage that definition to fit your narrative. And your implication that too many people are claiming he's elite now that he's a Ram is anecdotal to say the least.
Stafford is loaded with talent, has produced at a high level and is going to a team and situation that is a dream for just about any NFL QB. It is perfectly reasonable and probably more toward obvious to expect big things with all the pieces being put in place. He has put up very good numbers for really bad teams where he was constantly playing from behind and rarely with a running game. If he "only" replicates what he's been doing for the Lions, the Rams are STILL in better shape at QB. But, it seems pretty reasonable to expect big things from him considering all that he is getting improved around him.
Now, why are you interested in pouring vinegar into that basic framework of thoughts going on?
