I think you're contradicting yourself. You use Suh as an example and say that he was elite at times but never maintained it. Which I agree with but then you argue that Stafford has never played at an elite level. Even if it was just 1 season, that's enough to say that he played at an elite level. I didn't say that he is always elite or even often elite. But the point being argued against is that he has never reached an elite level of play. I think the numbers show that he has.
to nit pick.
Now we have to define not only "overrated" but "elite". You say a QB can be elite with just one or a couple elite seasons but does not sustain it in any way
and I say no way.
How far do we have to stretch definitions for Stafford? How many excuses?
So one elite season 10 years ago makes him elite in your eyes?
Really?
I'm not making excuses or stretching definitions. You said Stafford has "never" played at an elite level. Which isn't true. Then you said that elite means years of dominance. Even if Stafford was just a one year wonder, which he isn't, if that one year he was elite, then he reached an elite level. Whether he maintained that level is a different conversation.
Stafford is one of only five guys who have put up 5,000+ yards and 40+ TD in a season. Marino, Manning, Brees, Mahomes and Stafford. That's elite company.
