There's too many counter-points to offset his hypothesis about team building...imo
So, to me I think this way...I'd rather be the Rams with this roster and all it's problems than the Dolphins and all their 1st round picks, or the Titans and all their Rams draft picks that we gave them for Goff trade.

I'd rather have this Rams roster than, say, the Steelers and their 1st round pick this year and Rudolph at QB.

Anyone want the Seahawks roster w/ their OL and their 1st round pick this year??? I don't.
How about the 49ers??? Who got the bounces this year and have a great record but really are not as good as their record would say. imo
Wanna be a Cowboys fan with their roster and have to pay their QB and WR??

Also, this year many young QBs will get paid and Goff will be much farther down the scale...kinda like AD. Look at the bargain AD is now with another year of more def. players making 20+ mil. Same is gonna happen with Goff and TG. They just got market rate for 2nd contracts as ZN has pointed out time and time again. Well, he's right.
The new contracts around the NFL that will fill each team's cap room - will happen this next year .... and will make arguments in this article moot. imo
Every team has to pay the baker at some point...the Rams just happen to be front and center this year...the Rams will fall down the scale as other teams have to pay THEIR stars.

I'll take the Rams and all their problems.

As for draft picks and team-building???
1st rounders are still unknowns...but, generally, just have a higher success rate than 2nd or 3rd rounders. Nuthin is written. I like that we trade for proven players that are young and talented....and then paying them big contracts rather than paying big contracts to guys that may not be worth it. We have been very good at drafting mid rounders and UDFAs that give us interesting depth. imo

I'd rather have this Rams team's roster and problems going into this off-season...I think we're in a good spot. I think we might let Weddle go and use Rapp, JJ, Christian and another Safety. I think Mathews is still really good and physical for us and a deal at 5m/yr.

We could deal Cooks or Havs ...or both and get some very good draft capital back and some cap space too.
We are in a good place as a team & roster. imo
We have a team & QB that's been to a SB and has played at a high level for 2 out of 3 years.
We have a HC with vision and youth.
We have a DC with a solid scheme that the team knows well and will only get better. We also have a bunch of very young def OLBs that may be very interesting next year along with a very deep set of CBs
We have a new home and State of the Art SoFi stadium and new comprehensive unis(hopefully).
...blah, blah, blah....

I'm a Rams fan....and hope springs eternal!
Merry Xmas, all you guys & dolls!!!!
