we are in the same ballpark now
my only quibble with this is Kupp may want to move on and get paid like a WR1 and there will be a market for him at that IMO

that's just silly to say that
the bottom line is Kupp plays the slot for the Rams. WRs that play the slot "only" don't get paid as much as WR1. There are a number of reasons for that. Mostly due to height and speed limitations. We have no idea if Kupp can play on the outside with any regularity because McVay simply never asks him to do it.... EVER
the Rams will likely make an effort to sign Kupp to a slot friendly salary rather than 16M+ a year that Cooks could command. Some other teams almost surely will pay Kupp the top of the market and ask him to be a WR1. This is where the Rams will likely lose him. The other scenario is there is an injury and I talked about this before and now we have Cooks who likely will be down for a minute (or certainly should be). Will Kupp move to the outside? My guess is no. That Reynolds will do it and perhaps Mike Thomas as well.
Also here is a list of the highest paid WRs... find me a WR on this list that does what Cupp does and gets paid WR1 money.

I agree that zn's proposed 2nd contract for WR is the same for every WR except elite WR1s doesn't make sense.
This isn't about QBs who get overpaid because of the position.
This is about WRs who are asked to do different things and valued differently. A slot WR just wont make the same money as a WR that plays on the outside.
Kupp will be the highest paid slot WR when he gets extended, but it wont be what Amari Cooper gets.
