Rams draft has long been a collaboration for years, although it had to conform to Fisher’s ‘type” of players and then relied upon Fisher and his staff to develop them. There were mixed results on the O player selections.
Rams draft is still a collaboration but it now conforms to McVay “types” and now relies on McVay and his coaches to develop the selections. Results have dramatically improved post McVay.
I don’t think that any of the above is disputable.
Now, here’s where it gets subjective. Here’s my take. Any collaboration is only as good as it’s weakest link, and Fisher was the weak link during his regime. Too many inferior selections, too often inferior development, yet Fisher refused to yield final say.
McVay/Snead work together like a hand in glove. Superior player types are consistently being brought in via draft, trade, and FA, and then are being developed nicely. Too much evidence is in now to think otherwise. Heck, the W/L record alone speaks volumes.
I think I am very much in agreement with you 43. I also agree that with better player development you get better results.
