When you say that the saints if they got the PI could have run the clock off, you are assuming they would do so, however in the what if world you are going into they also could have fumbled in the next few plays and not had the chance to kick the FG....
What ewe83 is going by is what happened in those sequences that DID occur...what you say can only become a fact if they did indeed get the PI and indeed did take time off the clock....so your scenario actually deals from again as you say 1 side...that they get the call, run time off and kick the FG...you don't go into another chance where they would get the PI and fumble the ball away without a try at the FG....you go into your scenario to show they could have won IF the PI was called.....
Just because they should have gotten the PI call did not assure the saints of anything...not winning or losing that game. The only thing that can be assured are the things that actually happen...so going with if the PI was called still doesn't do it for the saints for good or bad.
