If true, the Rams are giving him an early contract, only 4 years instead of 5 AND 21 million bucks. They don't have to give any of that.

21 million destroys the past market. Under any market it's a reset. He is making, what 9 million? That is an additional 12 in his pocket. They are fronting him his signing bonus instead of making him wait for it. They are forgoing their bargained right to tag the man for three years and letting him walk without ever getting bonus money.

He has the balls to tell the Rams to rip up the contract that the players collectively bargained for and demanding 25? What else is he going to do for the next 4 years? If he doesn't like it go put on a suit or swing a hammer like the rest of America.

The new CBA provides 1st round picks the opportunity to re-negotiate after year 3 of their rookie deals. That's all Donald did. Several have already done it and in I think every case the player in question got paid at the top of his position that year. So strictly speaking it's not an early contract since league rules set up the possibility. So he did not tell anyone to rip anything up, he said by right I can renegotiate after year 3, just like several others already have.

21 M is low-end for a normal increase from the 19 M Von Miller got 3 contract years ago in 2016. The type of contract being a 2nd contract (which is usually the big cash-in contract), and the category being top defensive player in the league.

21 M would be an increase of just over 10% across 3 years, which is WAY below the rate of increase at other positions. In 2017 WRs were signing for 14+ M. This year it was 16 M (which is what both Watkins and Cooks got). Another comparison: qb. Carr signed for 25 M in 2017, Cousins for 28 M in 2018. That's an increase of 12% in one year. If contracts are going up around 12-14% a year (more or less), then Von Miller's 19 M in 2016 is now worth anywhere from 24 to 25 M or more.

I doubt Mack will sign for as low as 21 M either.
