Not agreeing to approx $21M bcuz you want approx $25M is par for the course. It’ll get done. It’s just something most of us can’t fathom. #PayAD99 #NFLTrainingCamp
If the Rams agree to pay Donald 24 or 25 million per season base salary with 75 million guaranteed, I would be a bit stunned. Not blown away but stunned because I've seen every snap of his and even with all his pressures and sacks for a DT along with the added forced fumbles that finally were added to his
rep·er·toire in 2017, I don't think he's by far the best defensive player in the NFL by the gigantic margin that some people sign up for.
AD is the best DT ever to play the position in the modern era (last few years) but I think he's over hyped. He will never be the reason a team wins a Super Bowl without a solid supporting cast around him on on the D-Line/front 7 etc.. We have seen how he impacts the total defensive rankings with the supporting cast he's had since he's been drafted by the Rams.
I'm not going to post the Rams defensive rankings since he's been drafted. We all know what they are.
I have seen this story too many times before about the greatest DT's to hit the free agent market that went on to sign with other teams. I don't need to name them.
I know AD isn't an unrestricted free agent like the other amazing DT's that were before him that signed earth shattering contracts because that was what the market valued them. I just know I have my opinion and it may be wrong and he's worth more than I think, but it doesnt change my current status about his value.
I will be upset though if he's traded because I'm one of his biggest FANS and without him, I believe Suh might be merely the same player as he was in Miami when they gave him (best DT free agent) the mega contact he got surrounded by a mediocre Dolphins front seven. Suh didn't make the impact on the Dolphins defense that they had hoped. Same story happened to many of the F/A DT's of his caliber.
Yes I know AD is a hall of fame talent and a better version and pass rusher than Warren Sapp was in his prime, but I don't worship his value and I'm glad the Rams front office hasn't caved to his agent's demands.
My opinion is that AD is not as stubborn as his agent and I believe AD been informed what the latest contract offer by Rams is and how they stack up to past paid highest base salary per year and most guaranteed money over the length of the contract offer is for a defensive player.
Now I will say, If you can guarantee me that the
annual salary cap will escalate like a wild Forrest Fire in the next 2-3 years, I'm way more open minded to the 24-25 million per year demand his agent is rumored to stand firm on. .
How much will the salary cap increase in the next 2 years?Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/26/2018 06:18PM by Florida_Ram.
