I guess I wasn't clear so I'll do that here:
Wade has a defense he likes to run and one component of that defense is disguising who the 4th pass rusher is. (I've re-copied the quote and link below.) Wade also has a clear history, both in conversation and in practice, of adapting his defense to the skills of the players he has. I agree 100% that Wade made excellent use of Ware when he ran Denver's defense. But that is not evidence that Wade needs a Ware-type player to run his defense.
Unrelated note: I was curious what we all meant by Wade making excellent use of Ware in Denver. Here it is: in 2015 Ware played 11 games and had 7.5 sacks. In 2016 Ware played 10 games and had 4 sacks.

"But the 3-4 is better. You’re normally bringing four pass rushers. In a 4-3, that means all the linemen. In a 3-4, that’s three linemen plus a linebacker, but you don’t know which linebacker is coming. That causes some confusion and gives the defensive backs a better chance. " [www.steelersdepot.com]
So you're saying that WP will use what he has, but if he could choose who he has, he works with a template.
I know the quote from WP you provide. It's very familiar. I just don't see him as being that dogmatic about it. I mean clearly he did well in Denver without approaching it that way. And he had Ware in Dallas for 4 years too (2007-2010). So that's 6 years of Ware. Obviously WP is flexible on how he uses his OLBs then cause 6 years of Ware is a lot.
HOWEVER, here they had this situation where the guy cost them only 1 M in cap space to trade, and so it's easier to start over. BUT let's hope what they end up with is around as productive as Quinn looked like he would be this year (because he stepped up at the end of the season.)
This is just not black n white, there's gray areas in this.
