Look we won with the girl we chose to dance with in Staffard. Jared is no slouch and has his own virtues an even better QB today than he was 3 years ago. Sean loves Matt and he prefers a store bought cake than home made so who can complain with the results. The fact is we could have busted on that Superbowll with Matts 2 INTs but Kupp and Donald and Ernest Jones were critical in saving the game for us. Many of the same fans would still be trashing Jared.
I am happy for Jared and I am now hoping we have a plan to transition from Matt when the time comes and not having to cross our fingers and spend a lot of capital threading together a string of rentals.
Great post, it echoes my thoughts exactly (which is why I also agree that the trade was a win/win). However, with some on the board if you point out that Jared is "no slouch" you are not a RAMS fan. Usually when I'm pointing this out people miss the underlying (implied) question is not about QB's, but about the coach (if we can be critical of players we can certainly ask questions about the coach). See, my question is this...does McVay require a "Stafford QB" in order to win a SB? And on a larger scale...I think I have seen that there needs to be a certain chemistry between coach and QB in order to win and certain combinations just don't work very well. I'm also wonder what will happen when Stafford can't play at a high level anymore and I hope that question does not need to be answered in the near future.
I would add that I think this years team is better than the SB team so unlike last year when the RAMS exceeded my expectations this year my expectations are pretty high.
