I think Stafford is still right now better than Goff, Smarter, and a better processor of information. Don't take my word for it just watch that Cooper Kupp interview with Julien Edelman. He still moves better and IMO there is no comparison between their arm talent.
You are right that statistically Goff has had better years than Stafford in the last two and IMO better teams too. However, when I mentioned that Stafford had played fewer games I was trying to make the point that despite the collapse of the Rams due to injuries in 2022, and the 3-6 start in 2023 Stafford was right there overall in terms of stats. What if the Rams didn't lose Stafford, Aaron Donald, and Cooper Kupp in 2022, and what if they didn't have an offensive line that completely collapsed under the weight of injuries? I know you tuned out on the Rams at that point but I think you might want to go back and see what happened to the Rams oline in the 2022 season. The Rams finished the season with linemen across the board who weren't even on their roster at the beginning of the season. As far as last season in the second half of the year there wasn't a better QB in the NFL than Matthew Stafford. Healthy, equipped with a commitment to the run game, and the emergence of Kyren Williams... there was no QB better in the last 8 games than Matthew Stafford. That includes Jared Goff.
Both the Rams and Lions lost on the road to the Ravens last year.
Ravens 38 Lions 6 - Goff 33 of 53 284 yards 0 TDS 1 Int
Ravens 37 Rams 31 OT - Stafford 23-41 294 yards 3TDS 0 ints
I'd take Stafford all day any day over Goff.... any day!!! And judging by the fact Stafford was chosen by his peers to represent the NFC in the pro bowl over Goff I'd say NFL players and coaches would too
I agree that Stafford is aging but he is aging like Brady... and like the Bucs did the Rams have now completely rebuilt their oline to protect him. Gone are the days when the Rams got by with a solid line with a strong LT covered up by the Rams offensive scheme. They have completely revamped their oline and gone from finesse to a mauling line that can protect Stafford not only in the pass game but also give him the kind of run game that he has never had before. One that Goff has had in LA previously and now has in Detroit. It seems like I have to remind people that Goff had two 1k yard rushers (Gibbs 945 yards, Montgomery 1K+)
If I had to win one playoff game right now who would I choose? I would choose Stafford easily... and honestly Saguaro the Lions won that game because they had the better overall team and were at home. Not because they had the better QB. I don't think Stafford sucked in the redzone as you characterized it... I think McVay had a brainfart and got away from the run.
Also re your comments about me telling you what you believe. I was referencing the Tampa game. So you believe that Jared Goff @ Tampa with the game on the line facing Suh with pressure in his face makes that off-schedule throw to Cooper Kupp essentially winning that game? If you tell me you believe that ok.... I will believe you. However, that is the assertion I was making that Goff doesn't do that. It would not have occurred to him to do it. That play was special... I provided a link to it. Did you watch it? Goff's not making that play man.
Ok that's my take

First of all... "passive-aggressive"? Drop that, Speed. Let's stick to the players.
Stafford had, in his prime, at least, more talent as a QB than Goff (bigger arm, bigger body to shake off tacklers, whatever else you'd like to list. I'll stipulate.) That was my reference to talent. I wasn't talking about the talent of the teams around them, as you apparently took it.
And I don't care about that because production is finally what really matters.
Stafford has a ring. Got it in 2021. Made plays to get it. Also got very lucky on some plays.
Goff doesn't have one. Rams win the trade. I made that clear months ago, in not one, but two posts.
But...now we're in 2024. Lol, Calvin Johnson's stats are way in the rearview mirror. They don't matter. Won't help the Rams win anything in 2024.
I believe Stafford is fading at age 36, and his odds of putting in a full season are not good.
And regardless of that, his stats over the last two season are NOT elite, and don't compare well with Jared over that period of time. Don't compare well with other top QB's, either.
I hope I'm being clear. Who have I got? Team Goff at this point.
Please show me how Stafford has been better after 2021. Can you? You say you made your case but I missed it. What case? I'm not talking about 2021 now. I'm talking about 2022, 2023, and the upcoming season.
If you had to win one playoff game, mano a mano, who would you want as they stand right now? Goff or Stafford? Oh wait, nevermind, we just did that a few months ago, and Goff won.
Here's the real, ugly truth. It was a close game, but the Rams lost because Stafford STUNK it up in the redzone.
The Rams got three possessions there and nothing but field goals.
Stafford's stats in the redzone that game? 2 of 7 for 7 yards 0 TD's Rating 39.6 OUCH!!
He threw all over the field against Detroit's corners until things got compressed close to the goal and then it was whiff, whiff, whiff.
Meanwhile, Goff threw the Lions down to the goal line 1st possession, and Montgomery took one in. Gibbs on a run got another TD.
And then came the 3rd redzone for the Lions. The Rams stiffened and got them to a 4th down. But Coach Campbell, in typical fashion, said "we're going for it". A lot of pressure on Goff. He throws to LaPorta for 6. The Lions end up winning by 1. Don't tell me Goff isn't clutch and can't make throws.
Goff's stats in the redzone that game? 3 of 3 for 18 yards and a TD. Rating 106.8
Do me a favor, though, please. Don't tell me what I supposedly "know as well as you do" about Goff or anything else.
Right or wrong, I sincerely believe what I post, and I don't hide my real thoughts. Someone might mistakenly think you're accusing me of being dishonest about Goff, and I know that's not what you're doing.
