All fair points. And never say never. They may
love Dotson so much in the building and see him as a cornerstone for years to come that they will pay. And it of course is hard to project free agents. I still think, even with $$ available, the Rams will lean toward their formula of pursuing free agents that are released elsewhere (for compensatory picks purposes).
Personally I do not want to see them go out and make some splash signing on days 1, 2 or 3 of FA. Make a few smart, surgical moves that infuse some talent in key areas while continuing to hopefully draft and develop well.
One note is I do think 2024 is very likely Donald's last season and that will free up quite a bit of 2025 money. So if they re-signed Dotson maybe more of that money is paid in 2025 and 2026, etc.
Anyway.... I like Dotson a lot. I just can't see their "team build", as Jourdan Rodrigue calls it, including spending top dollar at RG.
