Old Goat posed this question in another thread
"Unfortunately, we find the Taylor Rapps of the draft. I'll say it again, when was the last time this strategy worked for us?" and it prompted me to do a little research.
In that 2019 draft the Rams had pick 45. They traded it for picks 56 and 101.
Then they traded 56 for 61 and 167.
And then traded 101 and 133 for 97 and 162.
And finally traded 162 and 167 for 134 and 243.
In summary, the Rams converted 45 and 133 into 61, 97, 134, and 243.
The actual pick at 45 was Joejuan Williams, CB, Vanderbilt and the actual pick at 133 was Jarrertt Stidham, QB, Auburn.
The Rams picked Taylor Rapp at 61, Bobby Evans at 97, Gregg Gaines at 134, and Nick Scott at 243.
IMHO trading down worked in this case.
