My take on him is pretty simple... He's not an elite DC. We need better because we're an elite franchise now.

Last year when McVay hired him I was concerned with his grasp of quarters and Fangio's system at large. My question was where was he going to learn the nuances of that scheme from. Because he didn't have the history under anyone who really knew it. That ended up not necessarily being a problem, but that was because the Rams added Von Miller after a slow start by the defense and once he got rolling with AD the rush was so good teams didn't have time to get through reads and burn our subpar secondary. So this is where my opinion on all this was formed really.

So I don't think he's a terrible DC. He did win it all.

Thing is are we going to be able to find a top edge again? Because I don't think that will happen. So we're going to need someone with a top grasp of that back end who can confuse QBs with pre-snap reads and whatnot. I don't think Morris can do that.

Now of course there is a chance he can do that and I am wrong. But I'm willing to bet he won't. Which is why I say feel free to bump this and all that. I like the guy, but I want a DC who is on the cutting edge.
