1. Usually you post these diatribes in answer to an "insult" or an incorrect fact. Now that you're starting threads to do the same, I can only assume you are stirring the pot for your own amusement.
2. Steve Spagnuolo already has 2 rings and could win a third. Morris has some catching up to do. Barry Switzer also has a ring, but many feel that he was in the right place at the right time with a good team around him. How is winning a ring any measure of ability?
3. You say that you don't mind opinions but will refute facts. Rams43 shared his opinion that Morris doesn't have the temerity to play aggressive defense. He used a slang phase that he "doesn't have the stones". I don't think he was implying that Morris lacked a certain part of his anatomy. You seem to take perpetual umbrage over this statement. If you somehow believe that Rams43 was stting a fact, then I don't know what to tell you.
4. Here is the fallacy of comparing stats: Unless the Rams, Eagles and Chiefs etal. played exactly the same schedule, against exactly the same players, under exactly the same conditions then you can't compare their stats. As a one line to see how your team performed, they're great, but they are useless in comparison because ultimately you aren't comparing equal situations.
1. Usually I do reply. It has been a while since I have started a thread on Morris, but others have been on a diatribe lately. So, sure, for fun, time to get some facts right. Someone made a blanket statement to attack Morris for the millionth time, I happened to see the game as well and know they were wrong. I proved it. So, I though me starting a thread with facts was worthy it. and yeah, it does amuse me.
2. I have no beef with Spags. I also have no beef with Morris. Winning a ring is the measure of success. Spags has credibility in the NFL because he beat the Patriots. Those are his skins on the wall. That is HOW he got the KC job. After he won the SBs he got Rams HC job. The got fired. The goes to Saints where his defense was 32nd in NFL in yards and 31st in points. he gets another shot at as DC with Giants. First year? Excellent. Second year as DC? 31st and 27th in NFL. Fired. Was he stupid? A bad coach? No. But his rings are part of the measure of his ability. Will say it again RINGS ARE PART OF THE MEASURE OF A COACH'S ABILITY. Plain and simple. With anything there are outliers...but exceptions do not prove the rule.
3. Yes, insulting Morris was and is out of line. He's a coach if people's favorite team around here. Further, he does not want to admit it's wrong. It is interesting that someone can say it and then never admit is was wrong. So, if they don't then they must have meant it. If they meant it..then back to line one--it is out of line.
4. You are errant about stats. This is the real world and not fantasy land. If we lived in a world where everyone played the same schedule against the same players under the exact same conditions then the game results are not valid. Then the wins and losses are a sham and then the winners of the Super Bowl don't matter because the strength of schedules were different and if you played a team when both their QBs were hurt. Eagles played SF when their QBs went down. They are still going to SB. It was not a fair comparison of the teams. It did not prove who the better team was, but they played the game anyways.
When Rams set records with the GSOT in 1999-01 did anyone complain about Rams stats then and being compared to other scoring teams? No. We just enjoyed the comparisons, being the best-scoring team over a three-year period. Most yards in a season (2000) did you (or anyone) say, no, wait, wait, you cannot compare the rams records because they didn't "play exactly the same schedule, against exactly the same players, under exactly the same conditions then you can't compare their stats."
Get real. That stats are the stats and they say what they. Yes, in sports, all stats can be skewed in some way, from Mickey Mantle's batting average to Wllt Chamberlain's free throw percentage. But they cannot just be simply dismissed because someone does not like the picture they paint.
In this case, the objection is this: They make Morris look like something other than a stupid stoneless Bum, therefore they are useless.
This is the lie they are trying to sell - Anything good about Morris is wrong.
