Staley was definitely the biggest question mark in my mind last season. He and the defense over performed all expectations. This year, the new OL coach is the biggest concern. Kromer is a known good coach much like Wade Philips. Who the heck is this Stanfurd guy and can he do better like Staley did???by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
I know everyone is tired of Goff stuff. Including this more because of the take on McVay and what he was asking of Goff that may have hurt his success . Will McVay do the same with Stafford? It's part of the Shanahan offense. Opinions come from 2 guys. Tony Franklin (Former Cal OC), and Adam Dedeaux (3DQB). Both Stafford and Goff work with Dedeaux in the off-season along with Brady and othby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
We saw Sean's frustration through the end of the year. That 4 hour conversation is the moment it all changed... Sounds like it will stay in the room between those two what happened. Even after Goff played well in the NFC divisional, McVay was over it and now that he has had a chance to calm down is more thankful for Goff and has chosen his angle carefully that this is an opportunity. Lesby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
I wonder how much of this was intentional as McVay seemed to be trying to shorten the game and rely on defense to win.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
I don't think McVay is a QB whisperer.... Cousins and Griffin were only partially him. He was just one guy in the room with them and Shanahan. Goff he definitely got to a functional level but then peaked. LaFleur was there too.. Bortles was always a questionable talent between the ears. McVay couldn't seem to make him more as he wanted Wolford over Bortles TWICE. If McVay was a trby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Snead/Demoff's track record suggests they will give him a 4 year contract in the range of 200 million with 120 million guaranteed.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Here you go! Stafford - Goff Trade Announced It was purposefully delayed until today so that Rams would have to pay Goff's $2.5mm signing bonus.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Reported elsewhere that the deal was set to go live 3/18 so tomorrow morning. Lions fans getting scared that the Rams realized they paid too much and wanted to back out :-).by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
He's a very good player. I'm not convinced he is worth $16mm/year for 4 years. Rams need to stop doing huge contracts.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Who is approving and pushing these deals?!? Is this Snead? Demoff? This seems like another handcuff deal that puts way too much money on 1 player who had a nice season working with AD but isn't worth 16mm a year for 4 years. I like Floyd a lot, but you can't keep mortgaging your future like this.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Brockers has been very positive on Goff overall. All he has to do is call up Goff and say “Yo, you know a leader has to say that stuff” . Goff can reply: “No problem, I got your back… and if you can get Aaron Donald to come over too, he’s a level up!” All will be good. They respect each other.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
What do you think about a discussion on McVay's eyebrow raising decisions? Not a negative critique but a look at ones that stopped and made us think. Examples: - Letting a proven Wade walk in favor of a no-name LB Position coach. - Keeping the OL in tact despite 2019 performance - Trading top picks for Cooks, Ramsey, Fowler. Peters etc. Most of these have a known outcome. Most ofby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Overall a lot of good moves. The one thing I can't get behind is the insane contracts Snead has done. I didn't like the Goff contract, though I am a fan of him. Kupp is worth every penny if healthy but that is questionable. Aaron Donald is about as sure a thing as you can have but even that contract seemed too restrictive. Sneed is trying to lock in low costs but that only works ifby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Exactly like Green Bay did. Not everyone has the offense that Green Bay does so I will go deeper. What I feared most last year was an up the gut running team. AD has one weakness and it's getting himself out of position trying to knife into the backfield. He is not a great anchor DL. Especially hurt in the divisional round. The rams have bigger and better anchor DL that can stop the ruby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
This is the right comment to make no matter if they are planning to draft one or not. My personal belief is that Holmes is not satisfied with the 6 picks the Lions have. He wants 9+. The #7 is their most valuable and they can probably get whoever they want at #12 or #15 + pickup capital. If the guy they love is there at #7 they could take him. I could see them trying for a guy like Moby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Some think the cap will skyrocket next year but I'm not so sure. Based on ticket sales and tv contracts right? If stadiums are only half full and ratings are declining, how does the cap grow a ton? Either way I am not high on Dak and I am pretty sure the Cowboys will regret this contract way more than the rams do Jared Goff's.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
If they really believe this is the window, they need all the cap they can get. This is predicted to be the biggest FA cut EVER with teams having $20mm less cap than last year. There will be good players out there that need to take pay cuts. Teams with cap room can upgrade more than ever this year. That said restructures tend to kick the can of dead money for the future. I think you aren't looking for the Goff stuff... There is a lot of great stuff since the announcement from Kupp (Twitter), Whitworth (Twitter and Cowherd), and even Aaron Donald on Goff. Not to mention all the stuff McVay just said, though some of that is damage control. Hock in that podcast also mentions Goff and says his personality is just like Stafford. He is excited to play with hby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Agreed. Holmes would be silly not to acknowledge that. Lions need a lot of depth built. Good chance they trade down. One LB, Rookie QB, or WR will not instantly make the lions a winning team. They need 10 Starting level guys and trade downs give you the potential to do that...by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
What do we know about Carberry? My view as a Cal fan watching Stanfurd over the last 15 years is that they have aways had a lot of OL talent but it's been a steady decline since Harbaugh left for the NFL under Coach Shaw. They OL was feared 10 years ago and hasn't been that great of late. Did Carberry turn it around? What makes him an exciting hire?by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com

I remember reading somewhere that McVay wanted Morris as as his DC because he could run it all by himself and McVay could get back to focusing on the offense. Is that true? Do we have a documented comment or was that Jourdan from an inside source?by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
I don't think throwing too much is a risk/problem. Against TB with a stout run defense, Goff came out throwing and sliced them until the 4th quarter. Against Sea in the Playoffs with a hurt Goff they ran heavy sets and even wildcat. McVay is adaptable in that way and wants balance. The problem I foresee is when things break down, will the mad scientist overthink the situation and tby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Yes this certainly helped the Defense and by association Staley. It was a good defense but not the #1 overall in my opinion. My question is still why did they run the offense they did? Is that McVay not having confidence? Goff undisclosed injury? No deep threats? McVay left a lot of guys in to block on a lot of plays and in my opinion that made it harder on Goff and easier on Defensesby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
HCs are absolutely a potential reason for a QBs decline. I'll list out the reasons but first on Wentz. It's a little different situation because the OC is a huge part in a QBs success and in Wentz' case he lost Reich. In Goff's case, McVay has pretty much always been the game day play caller with some others as "OC". If we see Wentz come back to form under Reich, then HC was a paby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com

King thinks McVay is doing damage control and feels bad about what happened to Goff. If he's not right with Stafford, McVay will lose the influence he needs for major changes in the future. Holmes and Campbell believe Goff is fixable or they wouldn't have taken on that contract. Florio thinks McVay won't say how he really feels. Goff will need some help from the running game in Detroit.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
One of the knocks on Goff is that he seems to play to the competition. Meaning against other top QBs he does very well (Brady/Mahomes/Rodgers/Brees etc). He does poorly against the backups. He is too casual. From reading the Lion's boards, Stafford would often come out firing and score quickly, then do nothing until they were down in the 4th quarter and he'd come roaring back.
