This is the guy I'd think the Rams would want: Craig Reynolds. He's been the highest PFF RB in the preseason (much like Reed has been one of the highest Safeties). He's gone against 3rd and 4th stringers so there is a lot of unknown. His size and speed is very good at 5'11 225 and he's been unstoppable even behind a very poor second string OL. Comes from a D2? Kutztown so he went underby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
They badly need safeties and linebackers but will be cutting decent running backs and defensive lineman because they have too many. Trade ensures both teams get who they want instead of relying on 53 man cutsby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Overall what I see is a raw player that has the benefit of mobility to extend plays. His accuracy is just Ok. He doesn’t slide (or at least didn’t this game) which will get him hurt sooner than later. If playing a real defense, I think he struggles way more. Not saying he can’t be a very good player, but he looks like a rookie to me and couldn’t be counted on to go a full season at this point.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Last year in that Arizona game Wolford dove head first or dropped down head first on runs at least 3 times. After the game, I remember Merlin and I said he better quit that immediate or he will have a short career. Turns out that is exactly what happened against Seattle. Hopefully he will never ever slide head first again on a run again, but at this point he hasn't had a chance outsiby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Few fights today between rams and cowboys. Biggest was the Aaron Donald one. You can see from this video what goes on. Pretty good breakdown considering he is a cowboys fan. Looks to me like Connor Williams is holding way too much and he throws down AD which is not a good idea. Good thing they don't play this season.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
My recap, Stafford looked pretty good but did have several PBUs and one INT on a fantastic play by the cowboys DB. Perkins had one nice naked boot that looked great but didn't throw anything else. None of the Rams backup RBs did anything except Henderson. Defense looked good against Cowboys backup QBs. Darius williams did get beat on one redzone play for a godwin TD.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
You're welcome! I think only the cowboys have the audience to carry something like this. Notice this is in oxnard California and the stands look to be way more full with Cowboys fans.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Cowboys has their own announcers for practice! It will definitely be from their perspective but a chance for fans to watch that may not have other means.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
One of my favorite things about McVay... he says he will do something about it and 2 days later it is done. End of story.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
I know Jared has a very talented arm. But out on the field, I like the decisions that he’s making. He’s taking what the defense is giving him. And that’s what good quarterbacks do, they’ll just take what you give them and then they’ll go over the top when they’re supposed to. And that’s kind of the way I see us operating.” PFT on Lynns Comments Towards Goff's Play So Farby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Here is from a Lions fan "off the top of his head" games where Stafford either contributed very little or actually lost the game for the lions: If you narrow it down to just the games where he played like @#$%& and was the cause or a major factor in the loss I can break it down by year going backwards (since you said you prefer more recent years, and I agree with that because he hasby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
He took more shots today. The other factor may be the WRs he is throwing to. Very fast guys but not a lot of other dynamics to their game. Quarterbacks Well, we finally got to see Jared Goff cut loose a few deep balls today. He made a nice completion to Breshad Perriman down the right sideline, had an incompletion to Tyrell Williams down the right side—though it was hard to tell if itby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
I've asked a lot of long time lions fans because I too want to know. From the responses I've received, Stafford will disappear a lot for quarters at a time. The offense will do nothing. He seems to lose focus at times but gets it back in the 4th quarter. Getting him in rhythm is key. That meant that Stafford had to do a lot of 4Q heroics, which sometimes worked (usually against teamsby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
He is not struggling at all. He has only thrown a few deep passes all training camp and several of them were PBUs. There are a ton of good reports on his progress if you care to dig beyond a recognized negative reporter. For what it's worth, several Lions fans were laughing about same old Stafford when it became news that Ramsey intercepted him in the Red Zone. Is that indicative of Staby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com

Yeah it's too bad there isn't more respect for the accomplishments. It's hard to achieve consistent winning and playoff appearances/wins. Just ask the Lion's fans or anyone watching the Rams pre-McVay. Side note, this author Kyle is known to Detroit fans as always taking the negative view of the Lions and in particular Goff. He tries to rile up fans in an effort to get clicks and views (itby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
It's good analysis but.. One issue I see is that it shows Goff's 2 worst games of 2020 (Miami and SF) compared to Stafford's Best 2019 game (vs. KC Chiefs). He only played 8 games in 2019 due to injury and that was his high point of the season. Per the narrator, McVay was partly to blame for the play calling (+ lack of hot routes) and predictability. I agree that it wouldn't be a good look for McVay. It adds to Kittle getting drafted in the 5th round of that same draft by Shanahan (who was OC during Reed's best years). It reinforces that Shanahan is the true offensive genius and McVay is just a very good head coach and evaluator. On the other hand, Stafford had a great connection with Hock so the true measure may be how well Stafford doby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
This is a very interesting topic. I can see this one of two ways. 1. McVay is trying to become a more holistic coach and wants to as CEO of the team ensure all phases are at their best. This is a well rounded approach and has potential for the long-term. Compare that to Belichick who is a known Defensive guru but has enough focus and knowledge of the offense to find the right guy to run itby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Haha McVay is so done with being hyper-analyzed for everything related to Stafford vs. Goff.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotemoklerman One of the things I'm most curious about is how different will Stafford look? It is my impression that what he was doing in Detroit was based on his receivers winning one-on-one situations or 50/50 balls. I don't know if that's the reality though. But for whatever reasons, I will not be surprised if we see Stafford have the same kind of jump in efficiency and production that Gofby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com

You bring up a great point that later in the season the game gets more physical as: 1. refs let them play 2. injuries wear down certain teams 3. the weather gets poor A lot of throwing teams tend to do great early in the season in warm weather only to falter later when they can't rush on 3rd and 1. Is McVay's offense better early in the season and not built for December/January? Zoneby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
This is less tactical and more situational based on what I've read from the Lions board. Stafford played his absolute best when down ~10 points in the 4th quarter. He played his worst when in a "big game" like the playoffs or against a top team. He will often gun the ball, even close-in causing a lot of drops/overthrows. So maybe play 2 high safety to remove the deep ball andby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Agreed. They both showed flashes (especially Hollins). They both have upside if they can be more consistent. That said, it wouldn't surprise me to see a hungrier UDFA/low round pick that adapts more quickly to take their spot.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
None of it happens without Lou the coach. He turns a bunch of turds into turd pie that can win. Finding what guys could and couldn't do and adapting. Willie Mays Hayes. Wild Thing. etc. Campbell is an interesting coach for sure. He seams more heady than his biting knee caps conference. He's definitely going to rely on experienced coordinators to achieve success.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
If coaching was what held the Lions back (even with Stafford), and what helped turn the Rams around (which I believe it is in both cases), then the Lions have a chance with a new coaching staff. As far as talent, I think the Lions have more talent in some places once it plays with renewed focus and energy.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Pundits didn't expect the Rams to improve under McVay either... Just about everyone was wrong. I have a feeling that will be the case again with the Lions. Coaching is the most important thing to improving a team. The lions have a good chance to be better just from that fact alone. If Patricia had stayed with the same team, there was almost no chance of improvement. He lost the locker roomby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Context: I've been reading a lot of the the Lions board on Stafford to better understand what he does well and doesn't. What I've read that fans see as his strengths and shortcomings. Not trying to make this a Stafford vs Goff thread, though it will be helpful to use as a comparison at some points.
