I don't think McVay is a QB whisperer.... Cousins and Griffin were only partially him. He was just one guy in the room with them and Shanahan.
Goff he definitely got to a functional level but then peaked. LaFleur was there too..
Bortles was always a questionable talent between the ears. McVay couldn't seem to make him more as he wanted Wolford over Bortles TWICE.
If McVay was a true guru, he'd want to draft young guys and mold them instead of taking one of the older vets in the league.
My view is that he values cerebral and fundamentally sound players. Look at all the WRs on the roster. They are all great route runners. No size jumpers like Golladay. No speed demons besides Cooks.
