I agree that it wouldn't be a good look for McVay. It adds to Kittle getting drafted in the 5th round of that same draft by Shanahan (who was OC during Reed's best years). It reinforces that Shanahan is the true offensive genius and McVay is just a very good head coach and evaluator.
On the other hand, Stafford had a great connection with Hock
so the true measure may be how well Stafford does with Higbee this season. Higbee has had some fantastic games over the last few years but more often is very quiet.
Was that:
- Goff not finding him?
- Higbee blocking more because of OL deficiencies?
- McVay scheme choices?
As to Everett. He had some great YAC plays and even some awesome up the middle blocking as H-back but he never seemed to be able to put it all together. He had some surprising drops that hit him in the chest. Didn't feel like Goff trusted to throw to him much and his number wasn't called a lot. Will be interesting to see how he does on the Seahawks. In general I expect him to be sort of the same as the Rams. Some wow plays but not a game changer most of the time.
