Deadpool, You bring so much to the table with his work. I am hoping that you will update these lists with comments and changes as the combine results are analyzed and Pro Day bring more information. You and Alyo are the draft studs and do a great job and it is well appreciated by the board. Just a not on the QB's: I agree there are not a lot to get excited about in terms of franchise pby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
We have shot a lot of ammo up in trades over the last few years so I am not sure that trades will be on the scale of last year. What I like about trades is that you don't have any signing bonus hitting you against the cap although many of the contracts are back loaded with higher salaries offsetting the benefit. Each trade seemed to be a surprise to me last year with many not leaking outby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Ebu is entering his 3rd year and has talent I expect that with a year of starting experience to see him get much better. Longcare looks like his is done as he was never the same after hurting his back. Wilson proved to be below average in KC and continues on that track with the Rams. Longcare and Wilson should both be gone next year.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Bruce is an all time Great and is very under appreciated. He is also a great person and an all time favorite Ram of mine. Steven Jackson while a really good NFL player was not in Bruce's class but was underrated because he played on terrible teams. I thought he was fun to watch and ran with such a violent style. Those 2 guys stick out to me.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
This is a good time to re enter after a period or mourning. The combine is starting and Free Agency blast off on March 13th. There are a bunch of question marks but the core roster is still intact and it is always fun to see the moves the team will make to help get us over the top. Time to start sharing idea and waiting for the surprises the old Sneadster will pull out of the hat.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Great Post Merlin I agree that the Team will probably invest in a Free Agent for another pass rusher. I love the idea of giving Whit another year. Agree Safford is probably gone unless Whit retires then they may overpay him to play LT. I think we can afford 2 quality free agent signings adding long term solution to the O Line seems reasonable but less sure than the edge rusher. I woby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRams43 More shoes to fall fairly soon... Whit Saffold Fowler Sully Barron Joyner Suh 43 please take Whit off the list that is the one that will be a killer.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
43 I agree that there are a bunch of areas that will need to be filled for next year. We have cap space for about 2 really good players if we don't resign any of our URFA. Maybe 3 good players if we cut Barron. I would however issue caution regarding Free Agents. The prices in the open market may go into crazy levels and have bad long term consequences. Last year Trumaine Johnson who isby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Well we don't have enough cap space to fill all of our holes with high level talents so we will need some young guys to step up. JMF is one who may be able to fill a full time role at DE with Brockers moving to the Middle to replace Suh. If Westbrooks leaves we will need to still add another DL. Noteboom may be forced into action if we do not resign Safford. We have like 35 Mil in capby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Whit is a huge part of this team and he would be terrible to lose him. His play is still at a very high level and his leadership and character are off the charts..by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Mannion seems like a Vet minimum type of guy. Where is the market for him? He seems like a very low end #2 or a #3 type of QB. If Mannion is resigned I think it will be because he knows the system and will have a minimal impact to the Cap. I do not think there is any team out there thinking Mannion is going to be an upgrade at backup QB and that they need to pay him to get him. While tby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I love Irv Smith but don't see the Rams using their first round pick on him. Even with a trade down to the middle of the 2nd round if Smith falls that far I would still doubt they would choose a TE or any offensive player. I also think that Higbee is a rising player and that Everett will explode next year. If a good prospect fell to round 3 I think it would have to be a really high value picby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Right now I am feeling pretty positive about next year and why shouldn't we. We just made it to the Super Bowl !!!! The offense may have one hole in the offensive line that Noteboom can plug. Plus we will get Kupp back, Gurley can get healthy, Goff will continue to improve and McVay is going to get better too. I also see Reynolds, Everett and Higbee taking big leaps next season. In my opinby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
No way he is going to be cost effective as a backup QB. He is a bottom 1/2 of the league starter and will probably get 8 to 12 Mil from someone.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotedzrams QuoteLMU93 Thanks as always. I think you are right that unless a consensus Top 20-25 player is there at 31 that they will likely trade out. Maybe 5-12 spots. It seems fan consensus is we prefer a trade down, but do you think Snead will be opposed to trading up for some of the great edge options? The Rams do not have much draft capital this year as we are without a 2nd round pickby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
If we do not resign Fowler we will probably get a 3rd for him the following year. We had a big need and he helped get us to the big game. With the Peters trade we were getting a starting CB for 2 years at 1.9 and 9.?. Starting CB at those prices is unheard of. Of course Peters got banged up and was played poorly for 60% of the season. Peters is another that will probably drive a 3rd rouby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
First I am big McVay Fan so let me get that out of the way. 1st. We can into the game with what looked like our standard offense. I am surprised that there were not some wrinkles to catch the opposition by surprise. I am also a little surprised that NE played us similar to Chicago and we were not prepared with a good counter. 2nd. I am disappointed that we did not make adjustments to toby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Seems like their will be some veterans available at key positions of need that will be cost effective and may help next year.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
In this offense it is ideal if you have 4 good WR and 2 good TE. It would be helpful to use more 12 personnel groupings next year to mix things up so you have to have 2 really good TE In the 11 personnel grouping you really need a least 4 good WR in case of injury or to give someone a breather. Now that Reynolds is more of a proven commodity it makes sense to use him in a WR rotationby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Alyo thanks for posting ...great stuff. On Kiser it is difficult to know were the Rams thinking and evaluation is on Kiser. He played well on ST but they seem him in practice everyday and have a good idea if he is ready or not. I do think if they think he is ready that it makes cutting Barron easier knowing they have his replacement already on the roster. I think if Barron is cut that signaby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I don't have a problem bringing in Mannion for the minimum provided we at least draft a potential good backup in the 3rd or 4th round. I do agree that Mannion is very subpar as a # 2 backup.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I hear what you are saying 43. Just trying to look at a deal that might work for both teams that might possible have a chance of working out. I would hate to give up the #1 especially since we are already without the #2 pick. I also recognize that it his highly probable that we will lose Safford, Suh, Joyner and Fowler which we must replace. If you add Brockers to that list and delete the 1by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I wonder if Houston Tags Clowney if they would take Brockers and a 1st rounder for him? That would give us the perfect compliment to Donald.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Fowler seemed to fit in really well with the Rams and I would resign him if the is in the 8 Mil or so range. But he has not be a big performer and there is no way we should over pay for him. Even at 8 Mil we are projecting better performance than he has demonstrated in the pass. That makes me a little scared but they made the same judgement when Signing Woods and that paid off big time.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I love Clowney but he was hurt his first 2 years and disappointed. Still once he got healthy he was a beast and can play up or with his hand in the dirt. He is unreachable for the Rams as someone will over pay him. I agree with the comments that he is not in the Mack/Donald level but will get a similar contract. Still he is not that far form Mack who is the best comparison. I wish we could gby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Thanks Dead I have been waiting for this. Not sure about the Saffold assumption. If he doesn't resign does it change your first rounder? Also I think there is a high probability of trading down int round 2 and picking up either a future 2nd ore an additional 3rd rounder. Seems like a lot of similar level of value late in round 1 and in round 2.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Suh underperformed and made 14Mil. If he signs elsewhere we will probably get a 3rd comp pick. Brockers can play his position. Would like to have Fowler and Safford back but realize that they may get killer offers elsewhere. See Joyner leaving. Barron possible cut but he did get healthy and is not that expensive so maybe he stays.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
A lot depends on Safford. If he is resigned I can see spending one of the 3rd rounders on the OL if there is value we could use another prospect. If Safford leaves I would see Noteboom taking his position and we will certainly need another good developmental prospect to backfill him. Free Agency will tell dictate what we do. If we lose Joyner, Fowler and Suh and cut Barron that leaves a lotby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Should have gone with Everett and Higbee with Reynolds on the bench.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Wow good read on why we didn't succeed on offense. Still I think our inability to adjust to this defense at half time is a major flaw that needs to be corrected. Everyone is complaining about the players and rightfully so but we did not do what was necessary to exploit this defense. All defenses have weaknesses but we did not seem to recognize what they were doing and where the weaknesses weby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
