Well we don't have enough cap space to fill all of our holes with high level talents so we will need some young guys to step up.
JMF is one who may be able to fill a full time role at DE with Brockers moving to the Middle to replace Suh. If Westbrooks leaves we will need to still add another DL.
Noteboom may be forced into action if we do not resign Safford.
We have like 35 Mil in cap space but need to cover the draft too out of that amount. You have raises going to the RFA too that have to come out of that amount. Maybe you end up with between 25-28 Mil to spend. Resigning Safford and Fowler or Suh and Fowler is going to take up most of that. Or if they go maybe we can find some cheap replacements that will not be as good.
I think it is imperative that young players are developed and ready to take the place of more expensive ones. Is Ebu done improving? I doubt it but he sure could use competition for the Job. While I think we would like to sign high impact free agents to solve all of our position needs that is not going to be possible. The Rams will either resign a few our our own guys or possibly sign 2 impact guys. The rest of the holes will be filled by our young players, draft picks, UDFA or low cost free agents. One of the strengths of this team is finding good players that can contribute who don't cost a lot of money. Under McVay they do a much better job of developing young talent too which is a tremendous help.
While we will go for it all we have not mortgaged future cap space, at least in a big way, for the here and now. I suspect we will pick up the 5th year option on Goff for 2020 and while I am not sure of what the number will be it will be at least 20 Mil per year. The Rams will account for that impact when planning this years roster and will not want to be in a position where they have to cut players and have a lot of dead money.
Anyway there will be young players that need to step and play a more important role and some will need to start. I don't see anyway around that reality.
