If Noteboom is not cut out to play OG then we need to find one or Demby needs to be ready. Either way it looks like we will draft a OL during the first 3 rounds. The only position group with less depth is DL. I agree with all the other observations.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Metcalf is a beast and I would love to have him but there is no way he lasts until 31 and if we are going to trade up it will be for one of the edge players.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
If the Rams can get on of the impact edge players at around 20 I think they may try and move up. Brain Burns is the most likely to fall unless Sweats hart condition has everyone scared. I think the is a good chance at least one of these guy are still on the board at 31 Dexter Lawrence....Clemson....DT Andre Dillard.....OL....Wash. St. Garrett Bradbury.....OL....NC St. Still I thinkby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRams43 And we’re barely into the 2nd wave of FA. Where to start? Joyner’s Ram future? What future? Weddle is a clear upgrade, although a short term one. Agree Peters. Rams kept him and want to see him prove himself this year before any extension decisions are made. There had been some speculation that he might have been traded/cut in a cap move after he struggled so much last seasoby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
There were a lot of people who really like OBO last year and were disappointed when we didn't take him early and thrilled we got in in the 5th round. He fell because of concerns about the foot. If he was truly healthy he was a 2nd round talent and if you gave him another 2 or 3 inches. Right now all we have to go on is the scouting which is mixed and there are concerns about his pass defenseby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Quoteferragamo79 It's fun to think that every pick will be a starter or even contribute, but it doesn't work out that way. Keep in mind here: the Rams had very high picks during many of these drafts and multiple picks. Plus they were a god awful team so some of the scrubs actually played and/or started but were out of the league after they left the Rams. Many were released or traded away afby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I think the hope would be that in year 2 a 6th round pick like Joseph would mature into a rotational player on the defensive line. If he becomes a rotation player of good quality he is a major find in the 6th round. I agree though we need more DL depth but signing a big name isn't going to happen.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Even with the financials aside I think the Rams really like Brown and art thrilled to have him for 2 more years. I also think they really like Kelly and are excited to see how he develops in year 2. I would expect that Davis is on the bubble and perhaps could be replaced in the draft this year with a change of pass runner. Both Brown and Kelly are one cut and go type of runners that willby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRams43 And I think it started with our ‘18 draft and might continue into ‘19 draft and beyond. First, look at these ‘18 draft picks. Noteboom Allen Franklin-Myers Kiser Kelly Denby Sebastian-Day-Joseph Young Howard Lawler Yeah, the jury is still out on several, but what are some of the commonalities we see? None were immediate starters, but most were at positions that wby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Wow what a huge difference. Liked the signing before but not the price. Now this is similar to the Weedle deal and we get a couple of great vets for our defense.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Rams get Malcolm Brown for 2 years at a really good price. Probably means good by CJ. Love the deal. This clicks off another box in the roster development the Backup to Gurley is now checked off.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Everett when he has the ball in his hands is a violent runner unlike any WR/TE we have. He is elusive, fast, delivers a hit and doesn't go down easy. I think on area of improvement for the offense this year it to get the ball in Everett hands about 3X as many times as we did last year. Heck he catches it good to so I don't see what the problem is. He can be a huge difference maker for us nextby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
As a fan I find it really difficult to be able to gauge how well these young guys are developing since we don't get to see them on the field. It is great to get a tidbit about Sebastian Joseph-Day and hearing that he looks incredible. If he is ready and able to slide into the rotation on the DL this year and play productively that will be huge for the team. We have a little bit of informatiby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I think there is an outside chance that Polite is viewed as a headcase and that he falls to round 3. At that point he would be value and worth a shot based on his talent.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
JJ was a 4th round steal and has been great for us. I still think he is underrated around the league.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
What round do you thing they are looking to take Singletary in? I doubt he goes in round 1 but will he last until round 3?by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Now I am not saying that they won’t take an edge but with Fowler, Matthews, EBU and OBO that is 4 edge guys 3 of which will be here for 2 more years. So I don’t consider it an immediate need for the draft and I think we have okay depth as we will probably have a starter from last year coming off the bench. Now a DE/OLB hybrid would probably be perfect as we have a need for that DL depth and itby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
After a quick review the lack of depth on the DL seem quite big. Brockers being able to play all the positions helps some but it should be a priority on draft day. OL has a bunch of unknowns as depth and 2 new starters so that seems like a big issue too. I don't really see any other positions that are a must have for 2019 so I suspect that the other picks will be focused on 2020 like CB.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I think you need to add developmental CB to the must have list. All of the positions the starters seem to be there so we are drafting for depth and for players who can play and maybe start in 2020. In 2020 we our top Edge is a FA, both CB are FA and our LT too. I think they will look at the best available player at those positions and possibly TE as Higbee contract is up.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I wonder how the Rams coaches think about Smart and Joseph. Smart got some playing time 2 seasons ago and Joseph now has a year under his belt. Perhaps that plan is for these 2 to battle it out for a place in the rotation. Even if that is true seems like we need another DLby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Thanks for the proper perspective on where we are as a team. Even the best teams have areas where they would like to improve so being self critical and providing an honest assessment is always a good thing. There was a post the other day by George Allen who shared how many bright young players we have and the hope that is with those players for the future. I remember the torture of the fiby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
George Allen nice :Post. I think the thing with young players is you never know how fast they will develop and how good they can really become. I think you have a nice list and when we are all discussing how the Rams will do next year I think the development of young players of often overlooked. In general we tend to look at their short comings and often do not see that they may be on theirby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Deadpool said: My biggest hope TBH is to pray Sweat or Burns somehow slips into the 20s and the Rams go after 1 of them. I love Sweet but I think he is going in the top 12. Burns might slip into the early 20's but moving from 31 is a heavy lift and I don't even know what it would cost. I suspect at least one of our 3's this year and a 3 or 2 from next season. I am starting to think tby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I got a feeling we are going to see great things at Safety this year. Both guys are so versatile and seem ready to go right now. JJ is a very underrated player who is just another great find by Snead.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Thanks Deadpool I just think they are going to have to take a CB in either round 3 or 4. Any thoughts on a trade down and talking Simmons who may be back mid season. Anyway great work .by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Quoteoldschoolramfan I think Kromer/McVay know what they are doing........The entire organization comes together to DRAFT TALENT. At some point, the KIDS need to play, otherwise why not just trade all your DRAFT PICKS and just have a team full of FA's? There are 3 phases every year........... 1. Free Agency. 2. NFL DRAFT. 3. Cap Casualties at the end of training camp. Rams are stillby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
CJ was on the beach and nobody wanted him. He gets picked up and plays great for a few weeks. 2.5 per seems reasonable and 2 years doe too.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I think Weedle is a upgrade for sure. I think it is a good bet that Allen will be an upgrade. Brockers versus Suh is a toss. JMF versus Brockers may be a wash as Brockers was playing out of position. Barron versus Kiser may also be a wash as Barron did not play at all for a while then played poorly then played pretty well. Kiser versus the Run probably and upgrade. Noteboom is cerby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
They did get to see Noteboom and Allen play in actual games plus in practice so you have to think they have had a pretty accurate evaluation of how each player will perform. We still need at least 1 OL developmental prospect at this position and 2 a CB when looking to 2020.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
