Saw the latest last night. My favorite quote was. "You can't just have hope when the sun is shining." Can't remember who said it in the movie, but in the struggles of a daily routine, I thought it was something that applies to all kinds of people. Doesn't really apply in any current context on this board the quote, but was my favorite last night.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
but the logic is simple. I will reduce it. Resting the starters have no impact in weeks #1 and #2, positive or negative. I could make the case for it that it could hurt the chances as Goff and the WRs could have a rust element. Week #3 if the Rams play the Saints, which I give a 25% chance of the Saints making it to that game, the Rams chances are reduced as the Saints are 7-1 at home aby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
So there was 1 test of a playoff atmosphere on the road against a good team and the Rams got a F in the last 5 minutes of the game. And probably a C for the rest of the game. The team couldn't deal with the crowd noise. There was confusion at the Line of Scrimmage. They had a hard time getting plays off in time despite being in a so called hurry up offensive set. I get the 7-1 recordby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
It really is comes down to this. Does the extra games rest in a home game in the first round mean more than a not having to go to New Orleans in the third round. 1) By not sitting the starters, does that put the first game at more risk or 2) is playing a road game at New Orleans in the third game more risk than playing them at home. that is the problem that I have. If the Rams have to play in New Orleans, this decision could be the reason the Rams don't make it to the superbowl.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
He acquired some key players especially Gurley and Donald His other parts of the team minus the offense was good, not great, but above average. But there is no way around the stench he put on that offense. Many players underachieved including Goff and Gurley. The entire unit lacked any kind of mojo and identity. Just giving him a game is good, but every game Goff plays, he gets more looks and that experience helps him too.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Saints are 7-1 at home with only loss to Patriots. You have to look at it that way as well. I agree it doesn't seem to matter to the Rams home or away and the Rams don't have a very good home field advantage, but the Saints do so keeping the Saints on the road is important.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
and the game is in New Orleans because of losing to the 49ers because of resting the players, this move will always be remembered on what could have been. Not to say the Rams can't win on the road or can't win with some backups against the 49ers so maybe it won't matter but I don't like it. I would sit Gurley only and play the rest and that should be enough to beat the 49ers. Goff nby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
I thought the Rams were rattled against the Vikings and their change play at Line of Scrimmage was a disaster.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
BTW, that theory was off, too, but that's another story in my opinion. How can that theory be off? That is exactly what happened with Faulk. He actually had one season where it was similar to Gurley's He averaged 3.0 ypc over 13 games and had just 587 yards. His yards per carry those seasons with the Colts, (4.1, 3.7, 3.0, 4.0, 4.1) than with Martz (5.5, 5.4, 5.3) On Gurleyby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
will the Rams have to play in New Orleans for NFC championship, if both make it? If that is the case, I don't know if I agree with this move.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
I hate to piss away the game and play the Saints in New Orleans for the NFC championshipby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
both are obviously very good players, but they don't scare me with the game on the line like Wilson or Brady. Although Goff has never shown anything either so if we play either of them, it may come down to which QB folds first under distress versus any of the QBs leading the team to a win.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
would trade for him and why would he do that for the Rams when he can be a free agent and pick his team. I like Austin, but not enough to keep him with the other guys on the roster and what the team needs elsewhere. If he hadn't turned into a fumbler on punt returns, he may have made a better case. I do think the Rams could sneak him on a short crossing pattern and it would be a big playby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Austin has made dozens of big plays in the NFL. Pead couldn't get on the field because he was as dumb as a box of rocks. Austin will land and be a contributor somewhere else and make more big plays. I am assuming the Rams have to cut him though and will get nothing for him other than a salary cap hit.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
It is simple. Gurley was an unknown. He dominated for 4 games. The other teams adjusted their defense and made the decision to stack the line. the Rams never adjusted and gurley was NOT effective the last 8 of 9 games and averaged less than 4 yards per carry. Other than rooting for the Rams here is my list of: Teams to root against 1) Patriots - always the bad guys despite having a great coach and QB, you still can't stand them. 2) Panthers - Cam Newton makes you want to vomit with his self serving ways. 3) Falcons - Matt Ryan - One of the most overrated players in the NFL, has been given the golden spoon for much of his career with weapons alby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
He had 4 100 games in a row and than in the last 9 games only had 1 100 yard game. The last 9 games was similar to 2016 with the only difference being that 1 game. His yards per carry those last 9 games was below 4 and if you would take out that 1 game, would be closer to that 3.2 yards per carry. Teams figured out how to play the Rams and Fisher continued with trying to run Gurley throughby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Can you imagine watching Gurley as a recevier that a decision was made to play Benny Cunningham instead of him when the Rams were going to pass? Other than Greg Robinson, was there a worst decision made in the past few years in the NFL? How would the Rams be this year if Brown took over as the receiving back instead of Gurley? How would the Rams be if Robinson was still blocking instead oby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Have you ever seen a player take off because the environment around him changed. Better coaching to provide space and other playmakers has given Gurley space to made reads and cuts and when he makes that cut and accelerates, it is lights out. What a tremendous story. I believe we saw the same thing with Faulk years ago when he went from a 4.0 ypc back to a 5.5 ypc back. Coaching makes tby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
who was loved by this board. But I don't see any way the Rams can justify his salary as the role player. I still feel he can make plays that can change a game and has a huge value as a decoy player, but not enough value to justify that kind of salary. But what I don't get is the hatred. He seems to be a worker and caused no problems for the team. There are just better WRs on the roby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com

racking up yards. They made the decision to stop Gurley and that is what happen in 8 of the last 9 games his rookie season and it continued on in Gurley's 2nd season. Fisher thought he could run through 10 people and all it did was take away the spirit of Gurley and he stopped looking for holes and prepared himself to get tackled after he got the ball on the handoff.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
That is what falls apart in this theory that somehow Gurley is to blame versus Fisher. In his last 9 games, he only went over a 100 yards 1 time and averaged 3.9 yards per carry. The only difference in that last 9 games and 2016 is that he had 1 big 140 yard game vs no big games. What happened was Fisher made no adjustments and created no space for Gurley to run. Gurley didn't have a chance to run. The offense was so predictable and limited the opposing defense had 10 in the box most of the time and he ran into a brick wall and didn't even make it to the line of scrimmage. This actually started after his first 4 games his rookie season.
