It is simple. Gurley was an unknown. He dominated for 4 games.
The other teams adjusted their defense and made the decision to stack the line.
the Rams never adjusted and gurley was NOT effective the last 8 of 9 games and averaged less than 4 yards per carry.
In makes perfect sense because the theory is that once the other teams realized what the Rams had, the Rams coaching staff didn't adjust and Gurley had 2016 results the last 9 games of 2015.
I am not cherry picking games and like saying the 2nd game and the 5th game and the 8th game and the 10th game. There is a line in that season that before that line Gurley was outstanding and after that line he was very average and after that line it is consistent with his 2016 season. It is very logical to make the conclusion that defenses adjusted and the Rams coaching staff did not.
