He had 4 100 games in a row and than in the last 9 games only had 1 100 yard game. The last 9 games was similar to 2016 with the only difference being that 1 game. His yards per carry those last 9 games was below 4 and if you would take out that 1 game, would be closer to that 3.2 yards per carry.
Teams figured out how to play the Rams and Fisher continued with trying to run Gurley through the brick wall of 10 in the box and never used the field or created any kind of space.
2015 is misleading because Gurley snuck up on the league, but once the video was out and teams adjusted, the Rams coaching staff never countered with any diversity to keep space for Gurley to run.
There is some misconception that Gurley had a bad offseason which was a big factor in his 2016 season, when in reality, the 2016 started in his 5th game in his 2015 season. It had little to do with Gurley and lots to do with the bad offensive coaching.
I maintain my position that Gurley would still be a below average player had Fisher remained as coach. It would be even worst with Goff as the entire league would characterize him as a bust with a QB rating lower than the temperature in most households.
