Long? Not long enough!
Boring? Never!
Wong? Doubtful.
Thanks for this. I think I'm 95% in your corner.
my 2-cent thoughts:
- I think we have a 2 year window and then we have to start making serious decisions. (That's when I expect AD and Stafford to both retire)
- I expect we're going to get reamed in free agency by our past coaches. I think we to lose Miller, Williams, SJD and Powell.
- I really think we need to start grooming a replacement for Stafford now. I feel that the miles are going to start showing. His fastball is still good, but his deep ball is becoming questionable. Two years seems like a good timeframe to learn a kid in this offense. Don't know the best way to do this. Draft? Reclamation project?
- I see a market for Allen. After 3 drafts of good centers many of the teams are set. Austin Reiter couldn't land a job, Blythe barely found one.
- Gotta keep Corbett. I don't feel there is anyone in our depth chart who can take his place. I don't think it's Evans. Though guard play (especially Edwards) is a real weakness.
- The draft (at this point), believe it or not, the needs seem to all be on defense. CB, S, OLB, ILB, maybe DL.
- Michels lack of playing time in the SB told us all we need to know about his future with the team.
- It'll be another offseason of re-signing our current players and no activity in free agency until late. Snead likes those comp picks. However, I wouldn't be shocked if we brought back Dante Fowler since he was a cut and not a free agent.
Nice post, 3030.
Just a couple of thoughts.
I think both Miller and Powell will be Rams this year. I practically guarantee it. Miller is playing at an elite level and Snead likes to acquire those types, not let them walk.
Stafford has at least a 5 year window remaining. And I bet he had more fun in this year than all the preceding 12 years combined. A Stafford 5 year extension was baked into the cake before the trade was consummated.
The D won’t get all of the picks. Pretty sure we draft a RB, OL, and TE in some order.
Snead might actually surprise both of us with a FA acquisition or two this offseason if Rams really feel like freeing up sufficient cap dollars. Not predicting it, mind you, but just saying that it wouldn’t stun me if someone that they really like should become available. I mean, that’s the way Snead rolls while team building.
