Most of us complained all year that Morris was not aggressive enough, however, in post season, he started rushing 5 the ILB either Jones & Reeder and was getting extraordinary results. Morris proved worth & Youngblood53 kept many of us well grounded.
Rams led the NFL in rushing 5 all season. WHat happened, what we saw, is it became more effective
The tilted front was used much more but it was not new
One of the adjustments was the safeties---I will know more when I watch, but the only adjustment, was to the safeties
no longer playing left- and right but mixing it up and I wonder, but do not know
if Weddle was far more valuable than we even know....
And this is not to you, but to the naysayers on the board----
Here is my true opinion----Morris deserved more credit in regular season and less credit in playoffs than was commonly seen
it was the players stepping up.
I said the replacements for the 2020 defense were not as good
BUT----in playoffs Weddle proved to be very good. A-ROb played good football
Gaines came on, D. Williams struggled all year (not Morris' fault) but was excellent in playoffs
Long played well in playoffs, struggled in the season
E. Jones was not ready to start, then played well, then got hurt---looks like future All-Pro
All these things culminated in a good playoff run---and sure if people want to give credit
fine, but Morris did not learn to coach football a month ago. The players DID start
to make plays versus very good offenses.
Example---Brockers 2020 > Robinson 2021 EXCEPT in playoffs
D Williams 2020 > Long, BUT Long was good in PO (Long took Williams' spot)
Hill 2020>>> D. Williams BUT Williams excellent in playoffs
J. Ramsey 2020 = Ramsey 2021, BUT Ramsey got burned a few times in PO--interesting
and so on ... could do more, but tired----so glad Rams won
