Was in thinking that Stan was Georgia. That he wouldn't use the out they gave him. If they had just paid the $800M or whatever to put the stadium into the top percentage as they had agreed to do by contract, Stan would still be in STL. So no matter how you slice this thing they gave up their control of the situation.
The complaints in this thread are about
how the Rams handled the move.
No one is complaining THAT they moved--they understand that.
The only time you hear complaints about the sheer fact that they moved is in posts from people who
aren't reading the complaints and so
are instead assuming that it's about just them moving.
I don't think that's true. St. Louis claims that the Rams didn't act in good faith but that's highly debatable. It is often presented as the CVC was doing everything that it could to retain the Rams and that Kroenke just called them names and took off. Which isn't true.
The CVC did not, IMO, present a good faith offer to Kroenke and ultimately pissed him off. They wanted him to waive the top 25% clause, they wanted him to finance much of the renovations or new stadium and then relinquish control. Their offer was ridiculous and just a show. They had no intention or ability to make a real offer that they could back up financially. So, the Rams, having had the lease agreement broken by the CVC, had every right and reason to go year-to-year and then move.
There was no evidence to suggest that the CVC would live up to any agreement so the Rams had no incentive to work with them or stay. But the Rams did give them an opportunity to present their proposal and when they got the joke that they predictably got, the Rams said no thanks.
