Actually I think Fisher did pretty well drafting and developing defensive players. He gets credit for much more than Donald.
There is Brockers, Jenkins, Trumaine Johnson, Ogletree, Joyner, E.J. Gaines (5th round starter for several years), Maurice Alexander (4th round starter until scheme change), Rodney McLeod (UDFA above average starter who got big bucks in free agency), etc.
If you go down the list MOST of the defensive players he drafted, including several UDFA, were hits. Phenomenal drafting record on that side of the ball. I think he and Greg Williams knew what they wanted on that side of the ball and were able to communicate that to Snead's team. And they had good coaches who could develop players there.
The problem is, he was a disaster in every way on the offensive side of things. Very few hits, coaches not as good, terrible scheme, terrible play calling. His offense was...offensive!
Final grade: A on defense, F- on offense, C- overall grade.
