You state what you don't like; you don't agree with the Rams current way of putting a team together.
What would you have done? There's really only two routes. Draft or bring in vets. Snead tends to bring in proven vets and de-emphasizing the draft even though of course the draft has to be part of the process. And remember: nobody has a high batting average on drafting unless they are 1st round picks, and pretty high picks at that. Stats have been kept on this for decades, and overall in the 1st round, if you can get a solid starter a little over half the time, you are average. 2nd round, average is around 25%.
This does not account for Pro-Bowl type guys.
So a team drafting their way to the Superbowl by accumulating lots of picks in lieu of bringing in high priced talent seems (anecdotally) not to be a guarantee of even being good let alone the champion. From my armchair, I see rebuilding teams accumulate picks, but Superbowl ready teams adding in a healthy mix of very good FAs or by trading picks for players to get over the hump. Of course this is a generality as nothing is 100%
