It could also be personal and completely a family issue. A strong disagreement over a divorce, a girlfriend, a sibling, any number of reasons why a father and son could no longer work together. If the animosity carried over into the workplace it could be disruptive to everyone around them. We have no idea to what their "dynamic" might have been but my speculation is one that is played out nationwide on a daily basis. McVay may have been forced to choose sides which is a terrible place to be with two employees much less a father and son.
