That's another thing we don't know. The trade could address McVays inability to build an offense around Goff's strengths.
Honestly, since every single statement in a conversation like this is basically speculation, I can just simply keep reversing it and ask why isn't it the other way around.
Like I said, the automatic assumption is always that it's the player. But we have just as much reason to say it's either the coach, or both of them.
Whenever someone goes down that path ("here's the way the player is the issue and not the coach" ) I always just see that as one way of interpreting things, and not a genuinely open set of balanced speculations.
I can tell you that here, on this board, the tendency is to make it the player. Just automatically. On two other places, in one it's more the coach. In another it's often both.
The truth? We might get hints, we might eventually know, we might never really know.
