How many years have we had these easily replaced RTs? I seem to remember it as a pretty major liability going back to the GSOT days.
Money for a young cog on this Oline is a good investment.
That came up below. Martz was bad at drafting. He inherited 2 (Miller and Tucker) and then lost both and the best he could do was Barron. In fact I would deepen the whole indictment of Martz's personnel acquisition skills by saying, you want to know how bad Martz was at that? He couldn't even find a right tackle.
Meanwhile since Barron and Smith the Rams have had 3--Richardson (who had the best year in his career as a Ram), and Barksdale (who played pretty well till he left), and then Hav who replaced Barksdale when Barksdale held out. Anyway, as I said before, if you think this bunch is as bad at the draft as Martz was, then, yeah Hav is irreplaceable.
Teams don't build their OLs around the ROT for a reason. Plus, in my view, spending money for the more easily replaced right tackle position means you don't have the money somewhere else for a less easily replaced position (like a top guard, center, or left tackle). And anyway, going forward, it would help Goff if they had another tackle who was good at pass pro (not Hav's strength).
