Yes, violent pressure will change a man...but to
what point is where the distinctions are made.
Yes, Goff is still so young and will learn and get better...however, Goff has some
EliManning in him
(the bad kind) when he gets flustered...and I didn't realize just
how much until this last game. That one play...that one play....with the fumbled, flailing pass attempt, etc was so far beyond the pale. Some things are mistakes - and I still say he "no amygdala" when it comes to fear.
However, confusion is his enemy...then you add pressure and you get some staggeringly BAD throws...and those flail/fumble gems.
I hope I never see him get to such a low point again. I pray Goff & McVay keep him from getting to that point ever again. Like I said, I don't mind an INT, fumbles, poor passes in the face of pressure sometimes...but the extent of Goff's failure CANNOT be what we saw last week...it was like he had never played the game.
Anyway, I'm keeping my eye on him cuz I thot his floor was MUCH higher...and I'm a bit concerned it's lower.
Yes, all yer points about pressure are spot on....
but good QBs limit themselves on a bad day to NOT make things absurdly worse on those days when the defense has yer number. As a QB, you just have to slap a tourniquet on it to stop the bleeding and mak the plays you can...even if yer gonna lose and you know it that day. There are just certain plays that - no matter what - one cannot lose themselves to their core. I'm sounding a psychological fire alarm here...
but that's cuz
it is. lol
