that game could have easily been tied up by the Rams.
first: early 4th Goff had some really bad throws with no pressure. .
When a qb is under
that much pressure, as he was during the Bears and Eagles games, it has an effect on his entire game.
Can you name me any qbs who were under THAT MUCH pressure and did not get rattled to a certain extent?
Heck I have seen the Rams do it to Brees in seasons when they went 2-14 (2011) (Rams sacked him 6 times that game) and when they went 7-9 (2013) (Rams sacked him 4 times that game).
If you can do it to Brees you can do it to anyone.
"QB under pressure" does not have to mean every play. If your attack is relentless enough and gets there, the qb--ANY qb--sees ghosts and loses confidence in the protection and starts pressing.
As I said to offer one example, we saw the Rams do it to Brees twice in otherwise bad seasons. And yes in both games Brees was making errant throws even on downs where there was no pressure, because that is just part of how this works. Relentlessly put
that much pressure on a qb and he finds it very difficult to maintain a consistent level of play.
For that matter we've seen the Rams do it to Wilson regularly, and he may be the best qb facing pressure there is in the game right now.
But if you are re-watching the game, watch the first half. See how Goff looked in that game before the protection broke down. Of course it was a different kind of attack in the first half--it was much more of a quick throw, short gain attack designed to keep the qb from being under pressure.
