All QBs have bad games, even bad stretches.
Rogers has had games in which he has thrown for a low percentage and high INTs.
Big Ben, ditto.
Kurt Warner had some turkeys.
Eli Manning looked entirely washed up the first half of the season and now he's throwing like Brady. Go figure.
It happens. Don't know why; sometimes it's a combo of reasons.
Look at Rogers this year. Not good. Why? Stale offense. Oline injuries. Lots of WR turnover and injuries. And he, himself, has dealt with injury.
I still think that the loss of Kupp was huge for the Rams and the offense is just now recovering from it. Kupp's ability to get open and stress the interior of a D allowed Goff to stay in rhythm. Kupp was always Goff's security blanket. I think he's looking more now to his TE's because they give him the shorter under routes to throw to that was often Kupp's sphere of operation.
Goff is a really good QB who is very young and continues on an upward trajectory. And, he is tough and stays healthy. That's big. Barring something outlandish, he's going to have a stable system and coach for years to come and that will only aid in his getting better and better.
To measure an entire season of work by a couple of poor games is like saying your High School Student is questionable because they got 5 A's and a D. Goodness: Goff actually has a reasonable shot at setting the Rams season passing record on Sunday. But what's more important is that he led this team to 11 wins last year and 12 so far this year, and a likely 13 after Sunday. And a 1st round bye in the playoffs. You don't do that with a poor QB.
Rams got the Goff pick right and I suspect he'll retire a Ram well over a decade from now.
