They did pretend that other options didn't exist....they just didn't talk about them.
Yeah I know. My point is that distorts the issue.
There is no such thing as a universal curse on the 23 spot. There is no such thing as a universally slotted pick 23.
And it has nothing to do with that not relevant "woulda coulda" routine.
It's simple and can be summed up easily with some questions.
1.
Could the Rams get a good player with the 23rd pick? We have to say yes to that...a no answer would just be goofy. Yes OF COURSE they could.
2. Is there some fatal mechanism at work that makes all 23rd picks bad? Or not as good? OBVIOUSLY NOT.
3. Then what is the point of listing previous 23rd picks? None. It just means ignoring points 1 and 2.
Saying that 23rd picks are not universally slotted is just true. Therefore saying that there are always good players available at 23 just reinforces point #1.
Yeah they could pick a good player at 23, and it would be wrong to assume otherwise.
So there is no point in listing ONLY the 23rd picks from previous years because that has no binding power on the Rams 23rd pick in 2018. There are always good players at that spot. There is no magic curse on the number 23. There is no point to the strange idea that all teams at all times are fated through some strange mechanism to take a mediocre player at pick 23.
So it's REALLY simple.
Can New England, and previously the Rams, get a good player at 23?
Yes.
Obviously. That's all it comes down to.
