So ask yourself this question. Would you trade Watkins and the 23rd pick for Cooks? Cause thats what the trade comes down to after this year.
I think McVay already answered that question Max. Since he coached SW for a year and saw him everyday in practice, film and games. I will have give him the benefit of the doubt until it is proven wrong.
Its true that there's evidence that says McVay prefers Cooks to Watkins, but that doesn't mean he prefers Cooks to Watkins plus the 23rd pick in the draft beyond this year.
Once they lost Watkins, urgency set in and other factors contributed to giving up the 23rd pick.
To your point, I do think its reasonable to conclude that McVay feels that Cooks gives us a better shot at the SB this year then Watkins would.
